As most of you will know by now, we’re proud to be Páramo Outdoor ambassadors and we’re always ‘singing’ their praises at every opportunity. So what better way to continue our journey with them, as we prep for heading back out on the coast path, than to write a song for our favourite outdoor brand? We’ve been plotting, planning and executing this for over a week now. We’re far from expert musicians, but we’ve had a lot of fun (and lots of learning) with this mini project. I added a Public Health Warning next to the title: “May contain frozen fingers and rogue chords.” And honestly… it was SOOOO brutally cold that, while our bodies were toasty warm, we genuinely thought we might lose our fingers at one point. (Oh, the irony…) We practised indoors loads and felt pretty happy with the result, but try pressing ukulele strings with numb fingers and everything changes! The Páramo Song is definitely not a professional cut. It’s rough around the edges, but it makes us laugh, and we hope it makes you smile too. Stay safe out there if you still have snow and ice where you are… and here’s to many happy adventures in 2026. We hope to see you for One Coast Any Age v2 very soon! #ParamoOutdoor #HeadRightOut #OneCoastAnyAge #dsairambulance by @headrightout
Oh wow, the unthinkable happened! (For me, at least ...) "630 Miles Braver–Midlifing on the South West Coast Path" has just ranked in the #1 spot in Solo Travel on Amazon! What a lovely discovery at 6 am this morning. 🤩 While I've not exclusively promoted Amazon sales, as the independent bookshops who support me are also important (esp. FOLDE in Shaftesbury), I know that if the algorithm recognises my book, it will help to put it under the noses of new readers. Last night, I simply appreciated that the eBook had snuck into the top 100 of the Hiking and Camping category, with Raynor Winn's "The Salt Path" at #1 and "630 Miles Braver" at #100. This morning, I checked the eBook again, and it had risen from #100 to #10 overnight! 🥳 That was a second wow–to find myself in the top ten! Imagine my excitement then at finding the paperback in the top spot in the Solo Travel category. Utterly floored, but forever grateful to everyone who has purchased, rated, reviewed, and shared my book. 🙏💚💙 Thank you, thank you. I'm so happy! Mike and I are known for heading off on a long walk every now and then. Today, we're delighted to officially announce we're planning our biggest challenge yet. Having only moved back onto dry land from the canal in June 2023 to our forever home and gorgeous village, somehow, we find ourselves getting set to HeadRightOut 7,300 miles around the coast of mainland Great Britain. It'll take us approximately two years and we'll carry everything we need. We have chosen to fundraise for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and will be raising awareness of the benefits of adventure for all ages through the continued research of AdventureMind. We are in no doubt this will be the adventure of a lifetime for us both. In case you didn't know, Mike has had two hip replacements (May 2022 and September 2023) but despite this is determined to smash it. He also hopes to set a Guinness World Record as the oldest man to thru hike the perimeter of mainland Great Britain. (To thru hike means to complete a continuous walk instead of walking it in sections here and there). There's so much more to say - but for now, I'll leave you to digest our exciting news. 💚💙 . . . . . . . . #AdventureMind #HeadRightOut #DSAA #OneCoastAnyAge @explorerbelinda @dsairambulance @adventuremindconf by @headrightout
Day 269 ... a second walk-through of the tunnel under the Tyne AND we made a big milestone in front of a dumped garden slide, a sewage treatment works (I'm sure that's what I could smell), and we were dodging dog 💩! All in a day's walk (for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance 🚁💚💙...) #HeadRightOut #OneCoastAnyAge #walkingthecoast #charitywalk @dsairambulance by @headrightout
AD ... Here is one self-care joy I am happy to share with you where I can ensure I'm looking after my body during this mammoth walk we're doing. We officially hit 1,600 miles yesterday and lay night we were looked after by a gorgeous couple, Helen and Iain in Tynemouth. I am not kidding you when I say I look forward to my vanilla Elavate ☆every day☆. It's become such a routine and I'm always disappointed I can't drink another later in the day (it's not recommended to take more than the stated dose). Whether we're in the tent or in digs, hosted or roughing it, I do everything to make sure that this daily ritual stays put. For a 15% discount off your first order, please use my code HEADRIGHTOUT Or you can use my link to shop Elavate Collagen: https://elavate.com/HEADRIGHTOUT (or follow the link in my bio!) #CozyOClock #HeadRightOut #OneCoastAnyAge #selfcaretiktok @Elavate Superfoods by @headrightout
It's exactly two months until Christmas (sorry to bring that up!) and we have a l'il festive favour to ask. 🎄 I've created this poster myself (apart from Mike's Santa outfit which Canva created) ... so I'm hoping a self-created graphic is worth something in this day and age of samey AI. Even the helicopter pic is mine. That's Peggy, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance's very own. We're on a drive to encourage some more donations into our DSAA fundraising campaign. So many people look for alternatives to sending Christmas cards now, and instead give to a charity of their choice. Please, can you help us raise £13,000 for DSAA by Christmas? This walk is going to start getting harder now, so every little helps not just the air ambulance, but keeps our morale up too. It makes our daily challenges worthwhile. Anything you can spare, the cost of one card and a stamp, or the cost of fifty. Whatever you can afford will all help towards helping make someone's worst day feel just a little bit brighter. Thank you in advance! 🚁 HeadRightOut hugs, Z & M xx 💚💙🥾🥾 #HeadRightOut #OneCoastAnyAge #savealife #dsairambulance @dsairambulance by @headrightout
Way back in April 2026, Steve (co-presenter of a podcast called Roaming Free) checked in with me again to see if we were closer to their area for an interview. By chance, we were ending our walk that same day at Iwade ... the very locale of Ian, the other co-presenter for the pod. Wow! Fully understanding the challenges and basic needs that accompany an adventure like this walk around Great Britain, Ian and Erika invited us to stay overnight. Mike had a bout of heat exhaustion, so we stayed another couple of nights, while enjoying getting to know these lovely people. On our final night, Ian did what he (and Steve) had set out to do in the first place ... chat to us as guests for their *Roaming Free* podcast. Find episode 21 on Spotify or your preferred platform if you'd like to listen. We've just listened again and loved hearing our conversation ... especially as it was the first time Mike and I have appeared on a podcast together! 🎙 Thank you for your hospitality, Ian and Erika, and for being a host-host as well a a podcast host! 🙏💚💙 We're walking 7,300 miles to raise money for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. We're getting into much cooler, wetter and stormier weather now. Please consider donating! Please use the link in my bio to send a few pounds to our Air Ambulance. We're only £95 short of £12k! #HeadRightOut #OneCoastAnyAge #charitywalk #outdoorpodcast #walkingthecoast @kentwalkinggroup by @headrightout
We're in MyOutdoors! 🥳 The article marks our first year of walking the coast of mainland Great Britain as Páramo Ambassadors. It's been a slower walk than expected, for multiple reasons, but what a year it has turned out to be. 🙌 Link to the full article with details about what we've encountered, some wonderful experiences, and the stats on the walk (so far) can be found in my bio and in Stories. Please take a read and share. We're grateful for the support of all our brands, but particularly happy to be wearing and talking about our favourite Páramo gear to the many people we meet. We've had people shout PÁRAMO! at us from across a room. A Colombian guy (Juan) instantly recognised the brand, smiled and nodded with approval. Oh, and there was Pete, who thought I'd squealed HARIBO at him, as he sat on a bench with his partner, Tina. He was wearing an old, trusty Páramo jacket. We ended up staying the night at their holiday accommodation! HARIBO! 💚💙 @paramooutdoor @dsairambulance @tauntonleisure @MyOutdoors #HeadRightOut #OneCoastAnyAge #walkingthecoast #charitywalk #readthis by @headrightout
☆STICK WITH IT UNTIL THE TO THE END☆ Last Saturday, Mike and I stumbled across a few of the Parkrun team at Easington Village, County Durham. It's a relatively new Parkrun, so it was great to see some Parkrun tourists there (yoo hoo Richard, Will and Hazel!). It's a beautiful route, taking in views of the sea and clifftops, as well as a section next to a railway line. We loved chatting to John, the Run Director and his team. The village community café is pretty special too. It opens up throughout the week and again on a Saturday morning for the Parkrun peeps and raises money for the Easington Colliery Band, where they also rehearse. Peter Lawson is a bit of a local celeb, having featured recently in a BBC documentary series ... Ep10: The Last Miner in the Band. As it suggests, Peter is indeed the last man from a mining background to play in the band. He's been with them 58 years and has taken them from strength to strength. He should be proud of his work there. It was a pleasure to meet both John and the Parkrun crew and Peter and the Easington Community Café volunteers. ☆ALTHOUGH LONGER THAN USUAL, PLEASE WATCH THIS ONE TO THE END☆ #easingtoncollieryband #HeadRightOut #onecoastanyage #coastpath #charitywalk @heritagecoastalpathparkruneasington @easingtoncb by @headrightout
We walked thirteen miles from the edge of Sunderland to the outskirts of South Shields. Someone told us to look out for the elephant. I kept my eyes peeled and then some locals I bumped into pointed it out. Once you see it, you can't unsee it, but you do need to be standing in a specific area to be able to see it. After visiting the Marsden Grotto, we mooched on to find somewhere quiet to sleep. I hoped we might see the northern lights, but there were too many street lights dazzling the sky over nearby South Shields. A little check on my phone today however, and I think I may have been mildly lucky with a few colours. 💚💙🥾 1,591 miles in the rucksack. £11,800 raised. #charitywalk #HeadRightOut #OneCoastAnyAge #dsairambulance #coastpath by @headrightout
We're half a mile from reaching 1,600 miles walked, yippee! I'm trying to get admin done, uploading clips, downloading pics, clearing memory cards. I've not left our hotel room in two days, apart from going to eat downstairs! As I try to ensure specific people are thanked, I stumbled across this video from the hours before our Marine Hotel surprise in Seaton Carew. I hope it warms your heart as much a it did ours. 🥰💚💙 #kindnessofstrangers #HeadRightOut #OneCoastAnyAge #charitywalk #dsairambulance by @headrightout
A few evenings ago, after eating an amazing meal in The Marine Hotel in Seaton Carew, we were heading off to our camp spot. Mike had already scouted it out, but the next thing we knew, David, another guest, had jumped up and gone to speak to reception. Within minutes, we were handed a key and found ourselves inside a wonderful suite, instead of a tent! Massive thanks to David, our Trail Angel from Camberley, Surrey; to the team at The Marine Hotel; and to Chris, Peter and David for donating to our Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance fundraising pot! @marinehotelhartlepool @dsairambulance #charitywalk #HeadRightOut #OneCoastAnyAge #kindnessofstrangers by @headrightout
