When someone is grieving, you may worry about saying the wrong thing. But you don’t need the perfect words to show someone you care.

A simple “I’m here,” an offer to bring food, or a reminder that they don’t have to respond can be incredibly meaningful.

Grief doesn’t follow a timeline, so continue checking in even after the initial loss. Sometimes the support people need most comes weeks or months later.

It is always important to tell those grieving to be kind to themselves, even when their emotions are complicated.
