This week the pendulum has swung from big work days to big moments of fun.
I had a decade of denying myself of fun. It didn’t feel safe. I assumed that if I slipped off my path of discipline my whole world would fall apart. OCD took over parts of my life which made it hard to let go. But in my mid forties I’m allowing myself some fun. I still have a twinge of worry here and there but it feels a lot more balanced now.
The self optimisation chat I often hear seems to be based purely on the aim of becoming the perfect, flawless optimised human who never veers off the track of self improvement. Sounds fucking boring to me. I also believe that we learn and grow the most after messy, challenging parts of life, not the ones where we are militant in how we live.
Here’s to letting the messy bits of you free.
