About 6 months ago, I started exploring marketing and social media because I found social platforms really interesting! I’ve always been passionate about helping students find opportunities and resources to succeed, so I started creating content around that, too.

Startup founders saw me organically show up on their feeds, and I began getting tapped about Head of Socials and Founding Head of Marketing roles. Previously, I had zero experience with marketing, but my social media pages served as proof that I understood platforms and how to connect with an audience.

I share this information not to brag but to encourage you. If you’re unemployed, feel stuck, or want to pivot into something new — it is possible. Posting videos online was one of the hardest things I’ve done (I was incredibly embarrassed), but it has also been the most worthwhile thing I’ve done. I’ve received incredible opportunities, and I’ve been able to help other students and young professionals which has always been my goal.

Whether it’s a social media page, a portfolio, a project, or something else — building proof of your capabilities will get you far. I’ve decided to pursue something else, but having such an insane opportunity has shifted my completely. And my goal is for YOU to have the opportunities you’re looking for.
