Before You Reach for the Clay Bar, Let Your Chemicals Work!
This white Mercedes-Benz had heavy contamination, and the paint literally felt and sounded like sandpaper!
Rather than immediately assuming the vehicle needed to be clay barred, I wanted to see what proper chemical pretreatment could accomplish first.
I treated the bugs with Koch-Chemie Green Star, followed by a Multi Star pre-soak at 20:1. After a thorough pressure rinse, the difference was remarkable! The surface felt smooth, the noticeable roughness was gone, and no clay bar was needed!
Even with this level of contamination, I was able to continue with the modified rinseless wash process I’ve been testing. The finished results speak for themselves!
The lesson? Don’t automatically reach for mechanical decontamination. Let your chemicals do their job first, evaluate the surface, and adapt your process accordingly.
