California recently started a new program offering student teachers a $10,000 stipend to help them as they earn their teaching credentials. Officials believe the stipend will address issues of student teachers having to earn classroom training while still managing their schooling and other responsibilities.

It’s to make up for a teacher shortage. If you work for any district already as a non-teacher and you are interested in becoming one, ask about what programs they have. I strongly recommend substituting first to determine if this is for you because there is a reason why there’s a shortages. I may or may not have seen a first year teacher quick in the middle of the year due to some mean teens.
