Sac State’s Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA) club continues their campaign to remove Starbucks from campus by holding a town hall in the University Union Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026. The club invited local union representatives to speak about the challenges baristas have faced with unionizing, and the importance of strong union tactics when facing uncooperative employers.

Starbucks has been accused of union-busting and harassment of unionizing baristas. According to the nationwide campaign Students Against Starbucks, removing the coffee chain from college campuses is the best way for students to support union efforts.
