the journey an artist will go on is one you can never fully predict, there will be victories, there will be hardships, there will be foundational pieces of their craft and there will be points of growth - for the artist it’s a one of a kind experience, for the artform it’s integral for the expansion of the creative ecosystem and for the fans? it’s a journey they can grow alongside of for as long as they choose

Joey Bada$$, Tyler, The Creator, Yung Lean & Rico Nasty all started their artistic journeys in their teen years and SZA in her early 20s, over the past 10-15 years they’ve also seen so much growth in both their work and their own lives, one thing that brings it all together to me is that all feel like they’ve logically progressed to the points they’ve reached if you’ve seen them from the beginning, in their early songs & early parts of their journey you see at least hints of how their style will grow even if the topics & approach change

the ecosystem of music is better for these artist’s journeys and how they’ve progressed from project 1 to their current accomplishments, as time goes on music sees more and more change - genreless music is a more than a trend now, more artists get to hop into the genres that’s not what they started with, more artists are able to hop into other creative mediums like film, artists can circle back to their roots and all that dynamic movement makes music open wider windows going forward for all

and as a fan, if your favorite artist(s) shows growth over their years and still enjoy their work that’s special, it’s common to drop off an artist when their work changes and if it still appeals to you that means they’re likely to stay with you through life & down your own path
