another 365 down, another ahead 🎈

so much happened in this last year of life, so much lost, so much gained, so much learned and taught and the best part is there’s so much more to go & left to do

last year setup a lot of things that this year can expand on but all in all i’m really just trying to enjoy this journey now more than ever, i’m finally a full on booker not just a freelancer and now i can find even more opportunities for upcoming artists, still one of the best hosts you’ll see and one of the best writers you’ll read but all i really continually aim to be is a good person

i’m fortunate to have the friends that i do, the community i’ve built, work i’ve created, family i still keep close, rep i’ve fortified, there’s always more to gain but we got more than we’ve ever had before

bigger venue to book at, a place for all my DJs to thrive, a pub for interviews, locations for consistent live content, there’s a lot ahead being searched for, planned for and created as we speak so when you see it, know i/we did it - again

this year could change my life, then i can change even more people’s lives from that, let’s see what happens

thank you for all the birthday wishes, whether you’re new here or been here with me for years, hope you enjoy the road we’re traveling

003 - Nostalgia, UNDERGROUND V1

in the 2010s the underground section of rap saw it’s renaissance phase take into full swing and complete it’s arc by the end of the decade after beginning to bubble up at the tail of the previous decade, countless young and hungry artists from all sides of the globe jumped from the internet and/or their hoods and beginning to reach unimaginable heights within this scene - the common denominator being the undying support of the fanbase they built along the way

every artist starts at the same square, this does NOT mean every artist is underground [a common misconception], the underground is both an ecosystem and a mentality, you must have a certain dog in you and you have to accepted into the fold to truly become a pillar of a generation ON TOP of creating timeless pieces and moments, you are not underground because you have under 10k followers, you know when you’re really a part of this crazy place

every face here from peep to tracy to fbz to x to BONES to trippie to juice and everyone in between started in a room with 10 people, then 50, then 100, 250, 500, 1000 - you get the idea and you may have been one of them, one of those voices, i know i was

fortunate to say I’ve seen almost every act here live at least once in this time period, it was a special era to begin the true start of your life in, most of the artists grew up in front of us and we did the same alongside

all this footage is incredible to see now years later [full list of OG youtube uploaders is attached in comments]

if you work in music, remember you were here once, if you’re an artist remember the faces that helped you reach your highest heights and for fans, stay in the fandom, support your local underground scene, there’s new stars emerging everyday everywhere

the connection between music & love

sharing music in any way, in any form, with anyone has become such an easy, natural activity in modern society - anything you want to hear is a search away and anything you want to share with someone is just a copied link away, with that ease comes one of the easiest ways not only to sus out whether two people share the same artistic tastes but also to develop a deeper connection between those individuals

few things are more satisfying creatively than finding someone you share music tastes with, that shows you new music you enjoy and vice versa, the way it fires the paths in your brain is so uniquely coded that even someone is no longer with you, you can remember them or that time life by hearing the first 5 seconds of a song you both shared and loved

if you’re an artist yourself or work in music find someone in that field / walk of life that you connect with feels like all you could ask for, being plainly honest most of the time it does not work between two musicians nor for two people doing anything else in this field, but almost always it results in something that lives forever whether in the minds of fans or on lookers and at least for the two involved

music is a reflection of life and society calls your dating habits and ongoings your love life for a reason, the two more intrinsically linked than someone might figure and i know some people don’t listen to much music in their own time, hopefully they have a thing to fill that crater in artistic appreciation both alone & with someone

whether it’s a love song or a hood classic or a blend of both, share some music with someone you’ve been getting close to, bet it leads to more than you’d expect

10 YEARS OF COZY TAPES VOL 1 💿

On Halloween 2016 the long awaited gift of the A$AP Mob’s latest album - Cozy Tapes Vol. 1: Friends. 4 years had come and gone since their last group project - the standout “Lord$.Never.Worry” with multiple solo projects in between, countless tour dates & their rise from the revitalized underground scene to the latest batch of mainstream rap stars who still retained their edge & uniqueness. Maybe most pivotal and most unfortunate was the passing of A$AP Yams in January of 2015 which delayed this offering further & understandably so. Halloween 2016 ended that wait and the final result is a project that set a new path for countless artists just as Yams envisioned.

The roots of the Mob themselves exist here as the foundation that new friends add onto, each combination of artists is something that very few had thought of themselves even when imaginarily curating songs with friends at lunch during school or on break at work amongst their friends. Everything was so fresh & dynamic and made the wait fully worth it.

This project helped act as launch pad for artists like Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, Madeintyo & Lil Yachty to reach new big time audiences. Telephone Calls sat next LPFJ2 in the “break glass in case of emergency moshpits” button for DJs in NYC at UG shows. The stage was set for AWGE to finally blossom & grow. It brought Tyler & Flacko together for the first time which was gigantic for that generation of differing fans. This project accomplished so much in just 12 songs.

Looking back 10 years later and the impact is clear, these types of projects are more common among today’s current and new gens, Carti, Uzi, Tyo and Yachty reached the heights people felt they could, visual, fashion, and concert trends were influenced by this era - CTV1 is as pivotal now as it was then & its all for Yams.

20 Years Ago Today Amy Winehouse released her career’s most widely recognized masterpiece Back to Black, becoming one of the most influential projects of modern music for the following generations of future singers & songwriters

Amy was & is beloved by R&B enthusiasts or all types & subgenres, her work has a sprinkles & dashes of so many different forms of music that it becomes a sound all her own and Back to Black is the shining light showcasing that cohesive complexity to the highest degree - BTB across it’s original 11 songs & 35 minutes of playtime is the bare soul of a timeless artist at the peak of her abilities

while the R&B lovers cradle Amy in their arms & playlists it’s the rap enthusiasts that hold their own unique attachment to Ms. Winehouse and her life & work, Amy loved rap music practically equally to her for Blues, Rock n Roll & more modern R&B and rap embraced her openly & willingly as more & more in the space became of aware of her, Back to Black resonates with people from literally all walks of life

during an MTV Performance Yasiin Bey then going by Mos Def took to the stage to join Amy during “Love is a Losing Game” adding a since iconic original verse on top of an already outstanding & memorable song

For me this album sounds like Childhood, some of those early memories of my life is backtracked by Amy voice & words and growing up she never thanks to my mom, Amy got love from the hoods to hills and still does

20 years of Back to Black - here’s to 20 more

I Really Wish Fans Would Stop Asking Artists About Their De*d Friends 💭

I’m sure some of you have seen that video that went viral from one of ScHoolboy Q’s recent shows where in between songs he took a moment to talk about how he’d love it if people would stop walking up to him and asking him about Mac Miller, explaining how it’s one of the toughest things there is to speak about and to have that constantly brought up to him everyday is [to say the least] less than ideal - this isn’t the first time he’s expressed this desire to have space with how he deals with adjusting to life without one of his best friends

I think that’s a healthy reminder for music listeners that the people who’s work you enjoy are in fact human just like you, and they feel those same hard a** emotions that you do and more over its a reminder that everyone no matter their status or position in life grieves and grieves differently, if someone keeps those matters private that’s their right to set a boundary

Q was slated to release CrasH Talk in 2018 and then Mac passed and he needed a year plus+ away from rap, Cozy Tapes would’ve (likely) been released in 2015 and Yams passed, and thats the music part of it, the less important part of it, fans should grasp space & time as well as the distance that does and should exist been artist & fans

Loss is one of the hardest things anyone ever has to deal with, bringing that out in the open isn’t something everyone wants to do especially daily and in the public eye, that separation is reasonable

I tend not to discuss much outside of the actual music, concerts, physical pieces of work, etc. and analyzing all that from a different lens but this just resonates, if you encounter anyone in life don’t begin the interaction with tragic events from their life - lead with positives

Don’t Immediately Ask Artists About Their Lost Ones ✍️ by @myrappersrap

where we started ➡️ where we are

the journey an artist will go on is one you can never fully predict, there will be victories, there will be hardships, there will be foundational pieces of their craft and there will be points of growth - for the artist it’s a one of a kind experience, for the artform it’s integral for the expansion of the creative ecosystem and for the fans? it’s a journey they can grow alongside of for as long as they choose

Joey Bada$$, Tyler, The Creator, Yung Lean & Rico Nasty all started their artistic journeys in their teen years and SZA in her early 20s, over the past 10-15 years they’ve also seen so much growth in both their work and their own lives, one thing that brings it all together to me is that all feel like they’ve logically progressed to the points they’ve reached if you’ve seen them from the beginning, in their early songs & early parts of their journey you see at least hints of how their style will grow even if the topics & approach change

the ecosystem of music is better for these artist’s journeys and how they’ve progressed from project 1 to their current accomplishments, as time goes on music sees more and more change - genreless music is a more than a trend now, more artists get to hop into the genres that’s not what they started with, more artists are able to hop into other creative mediums like film, artists can circle back to their roots and all that dynamic movement makes music open wider windows going forward for all

and as a fan, if your favorite artist(s) shows growth over their years and still enjoy their work that’s special, it’s common to drop off an artist when their work changes and if it still appeals to you that means they’re likely to stay with you through life & down your own path

we all start at square 1, where’s your fav artists today?

“the best in the world” - @samaracyn 🏅

in 2026 there are many many rising stars looking to lay claim to being in the upper echelon of rap’s latest & greatest talent - and heading towards the genre’s mountain top by the day is Samara Cyn

to me Samara has more or less everything one could hope for from the best rap has to offer, the skill is on another level and only getting better with each release, the creativity is sharper than a katana, her writing is potent and never misses, her videos are a joy to watch, whenever she’s a featured artist she steals the show, her performances are worth the price of admission and she hasn’t missed yet with any of her releases thus far

in most conversations around the idea of the best talent in rap at any level women often get left out of the discussion and it’s been that way for decades, every once in a while an outlet shines that bright of a light on a woman who’s head & shoulders above the rest but it doesn’t happen often enough, so i’ll simply say Samara Cyn is one of the best rap artists of her generation and soon we’ll likely be calling her one of the best alive in general at least amongst people open to the dialogue

Samara Cyn has been one of the most intriguing artists in all of music to me over the last 2-3 years or so and right now it feels like she’s reaching that pivotal moment in a future superstars career where the talent meets timing and everything aligns perfectly leading the way to the best parts of their creative endeavors, I can’t wait for whenever she drops her album

Samara Cyn is one of the best out right now 🌎

[this is an installment of a larger series discussing artists that I feel are currently some of the best in their craft] by @myrappersrap

September is Su*cide Prevention Month and that’s something every person or platform can open up a dialogue on through whatever they’re preferred mediums are, mine happens to be music and some of my favorite artists and people I’ve ever known are no longer with us and haven’t been for some years now - no matter how much time passes their voices, minds, stories, memories and messages live on in their work and through the ones still here to talk about it all

these 3 humans are 1 of 1s to me & are notable in parts of my life, my childhood may have been rap centric by most around me and yet Chester Bennington was still there everyday anchoring the linkin park albums I’d rip from limewire, I was a very lost teen from the projects heading to school often unsure of what would happen next and then Capital STEEZ was there & I listened daily, I was a late teen turning young adult recovering from my depression looking to just enjoy life and then 6 dogs was there and everyday I listened life was a bit better

these are irreplaceable souls to me, people I’ll talk about for the rest of my life, and everyone that anyone has lost is irreplaceable in all the same ways and ones unique to the individuals, su*cide is a conclusion to pain so indescribable and leaves an everlasting pain that also spans beyond explanation, it effects everyone afterwards and you maybe never know who’s being affected by that pain in the moments they feel it

but its not the only conclusion, far from it - if you need help help exists, it sounds cliché just as cliché as there are people who care but it’s completely true, if you are struggling do not suffer in silence as you are never alone - the best of life is always in front of you

if you’ve lost a loved one, a friend, a favorite artist, whoever, they’re still with you & my thoughts are too

if you’re reading this I’m glad you’re here today, hopefully we each other again, if we don’t that’s okay just take care of yourself, your life is just beginning

rap selects: favorite summer projects 2026 edition ☀️

we’ve officially entered fall which means the summer releases are completely in the books and it was a dynamic season for music on all levels + all (sub)genres - looking back there were countless projects from albums to mixtapes to EPs that left a mark on what summer sounded like, here’s 9 projects (in chronological order) that got unlimited replays out of me 🔁

2026 is becoming a sneakily great year for music and the summer only pushed that narrative further, the main point I notice most often is that there’s really something for everyone out there right now, all types of fans can find new music they’ll keep with them for a long time

this summer was really kicked off by Ken Carson & Future dropping with Xperiment being a constant in so many’s music rotation, the season also saw the full project returns of artists like Drippin so Pretty, Lancey Foux & Night Lovell all providing 1 of 1 albums, the new gen were highly active with fresh voices like Yuke & Cletus Strap making noise with their projects while rising stars Bashfortheworld completed previous releases

Rico Nasty & Denzel Curry reuniting with Kenny Beats for new work was perhaps my favorite piece of music contributions we got this season (along w/ Xperiment - Cartunez) as both projects are so distinctive, so high quality & give you that feeling their original work did while feeling new and fitting to year we’re in now

this is farrrrrrrr from every project I enjoyed (full-ish list pinned in comments), they’re ones I really wanted to highlight right now, there’s others i’ll talk about more at the end of the year [ex: erykah + alc] - what were some of your favs from this past szn? lmk ⬇️

@lilpeep’s Hellboy has joined the 10 year club and a decade on the influence, meaning & quality hold as true now as it did then 🔴

Hellboy is the point where Peep goes from underground riser to full on rising star, after a rollercoaster first half of the year, the successes of Crybaby & Castles with Lil Tracy and officially joining Gothboiclique 9 days prior to release, this was the moment his entire career had been building towards and he seized the opportunity

this project marked a new beginning in many ways, the aforementioned GBC alignment, the pink hair, the full red imagery, the consistent touring schedule, everything new was combined with the foundation he had built for himself through genre blending, consistently recording + releasing music, always willing to reimagine himself and all the things that make Peep the artist & person he was becoming since he began his music journey

this mixtape is not perfect, it is bold & brash, in your face, full of emotion and dynamic energy, it stood in defiance of what many people that could work in music while sparking the minds of many listener’s engaging with the music and the fans were doubling by the day and getting louder, this 19 year old was no longer in the shadows - he was finding brighter spotlights

that defiance existed in all creative choices in regards to Hellboy as a whole not just the music, he casted women in his videos that were not the norm, the video ideas themselves varied from the usual, the way he expressed himself was as unique as ever, the final product is his vision entirely and no one could box him in

in many ways Hellboy is the underground, his fame was only starting to pick up here (benz truck is 10-11 months away) so in ways it’s an early sign that the underground is bigger than anyone can ever define and the heads-up that this sound will be bigger than many could ever have predicted, for many - myself included it’s their favorite Peep project and one of their favorites in general and may even have a tattoo to show for it, overall a true defining moment in a future star’s career

10 years of Hellboy, here to 10 more, longlivepeep 🐣 by @myrappersrap
