I felt really inspired this FW season by looks with silk and draping contrasting against stiff tailoring, wide belts, and scarves synched at the waist, pointy shoes and tassel necklaces and am looking forward to incorporating these into my wardrobe this season. There’s something really cool about how feminine and masculine work in tandem with these looks and how something really delicate can also feel quite powerful. I also wanted to make note that Victorian styles are derived from south East/East Asian and middle eastern influences through British imperialism and colonialism. The cummerbund, for example, was adopted by the British army in colonial India. Members of the Indian army wore Kamarbands which loosely translates to “waist-band”. If the shoe fits, wear it. None of the online yappers that comment on our posts ever say “I’m not racist” they always try to change the subject because they feel correctly identified by the words and they don’t like it. History isn’t over so even though the people that think like the Klan have to hide on the internet, we’re not going to ease up on the pressure that made them hide. Never. Don’t have time.
Soon after her 40th birthday, professional make-up artist Cher Webb noticed the shift. Having once had volume in spades, years of fertility treatment and difficult life events had taken its toll. “When I look back at videos and photographs of me from the past, it’s shocking how drastically my hair has thinned. Webb has switched up her styling products for ones that give root lift and a modern, mussed-up texture. “I’ve been using Sam McKnight’s Cool Girl Barely There Texture Mist for years. It’s my go-to for adding texture and a lived-in feel,” she disclosed on the day of our photo shoot. McKnight is one of the world’s leading hairstylists and is known for creating soft volume for the red carpet (Nicole Kidman is a current client), catwalk shows, designer campaigns and cover shoots, making him the obvious choice for Webb’s hair transformation. With four hairstyles to pull from, McKnight showed Webb the signature formula he used to thicken fine hair. Head to the link in our bio to find out how to make fine hair look thicker and fuller in under 15 minutes 🔗
