On the seventh night of Navratri, we worship Kālarātri, the Goddess who reminds us that darkness is not always something to fear.
Sometimes, it is where transformation begins.
Centuries ago, the Spanish mystic John of the Cross called this the “dark night of the soul.” Indian spiritual traditions had long explored a similar mystery through the power of Kālarātri, the darkness before dissolution and renewal.
At Lineage Story, we explore these timeless connections between ancient wisdom, mysticism, and the human experience.
Because what if the phase of life where nothing makes sense, where your old identity falls apart and the new one hasn’t emerged, isn’t a void at all?
What if it’s a womb?
Sometimes, before you become who you truly are, you must let go of who you thought you were.
And after Devi Kālarātri comes Devi Mahāgaurī. Darkness gives way to luminosity.
Maybe you are not losing yourself. Maybe you are being transformed. All glories to the Dark Mother 🪷✨
