On the seventh night of Navratri, we worship Kālarātri, the Goddess who reminds us that darkness is not always something to fear.

Sometimes, it is where transformation begins.

Centuries ago, the Spanish mystic John of the Cross called this the “dark night of the soul.” Indian spiritual traditions had long explored a similar mystery through the power of Kālarātri, the darkness before dissolution and renewal.

At Lineage Story, we explore these timeless connections between ancient wisdom, mysticism, and the human experience.

Because what if the phase of life where nothing makes sense, where your old identity falls apart and the new one hasn’t emerged, isn’t a void at all?

What if it’s a womb?

Sometimes, before you become who you truly are, you must let go of who you thought you were.

And after Devi Kālarātri comes Devi Mahāgaurī. Darkness gives way to luminosity.

Maybe you are not losing yourself. Maybe you are being transformed. All glories to the Dark Mother 🪷✨

The story of the Devi Mahatmya is, in many ways, the story of every woman who has ever said NO.

Shumbha and Nishumbha had conquered heaven. They possessed everything they wanted, until they encountered a Goddess who refused to be possessed.

She had made a vow. She would only marry someone who could defeat her in battle.

What followed was not another proposal, but a threat. When Dhūmralocana came to take her by force, Ambika reduced him to ashes with a single sound. Huṃ.

What I find fascinating about this story is that the Goddess never tries to make her refusal more acceptable. She knows exactly who she is, and she has no intention of changing her answer.

And perhaps that is why a story written so long ago still feels remarkably modern.

Our scriptures carry generations of stories about powerful, independent women, fierce goddesses and the right to choose. These stories were told, painted and passed down through centuries. There is something important about keeping that lineage alive, because what we remember of our past also shapes how we understand ourselves today.

Art references: Inspired by the Kangra school of Pahari miniature painting, a tradition that flourished in the Himalayan hills of northern India. Additional artistic references from Simon Ray: Indian & Islamic Works of Art.

As I age ❤️

I wish to become softer as I age.

Not the boss babe, not the go-getter, not the one who stands tall when shit hits the roof, but the one who no longer has to!

I wish to become more childlike as l age.

Not the one with every answer, not the smartest or the wisest in the room but the one who has more questions than answers.

I wish to become more in love as I age.

Not the one who kept choosing the career because love could wait its turn the next year, not the one who made her ambition smaller so a man could feel larger standing next to it.

I wish to become more sovereign as I age.

Not the one who arrives at a decision only after every ego in the room has been soothed but the one who follows her own intuation and lets the time do its job.

I wish to become emptier as I age.

Not the one still carrying the proof of what she built, what she survived, what she owed but the one who set the proof down and just be! by @nat.bot

My friends from Bangalore are the coolest! ❤️

I was telling someone the other day that my Bangalore friends are different, the depth of our relationship and the ease we carry, I don't know if it's the cultural aspect or something else.

Co-hosted @neo.yug first offline event with @mindfullygreen111 she was gracious enough to cook South Indian comfort food for me, which I couldn't eat cause her medicine made me travel realms 🫠 Potent medicine from a potent medicine keeper!

The cookie & ice cream we couldn't eat coz the light went out at the dessert shop, the underground scene creator aesthetic boy @thelamadev

Tipsy dancing and celebrating with this Shakti @sneha.satheendran to more milestones & dancing under the moon, and still finding our way back home always.

How come we don't have a picture toghter, @stalliondj
My talented and rooted friend, you are special!! May all our wildest visions become reality. You are definitely the co-pilot to the top! 🖤

What if abundance isn’t something you chase, but something you learn to choose?

In this conversation, Regan hillyer sits down with Nathasha to talk about manifestation beyond the buzzwords identity, scarcity, money, possibility, and the small choices that quietly shape the life you create.

Sometimes the shift isn’t in doing more.
It’s in becoming someone different.

To watch the entire masterclass, link in bio. 🌸🌸
