@vibesbytoba Afro Street Dance × Dancehall Collab Class
FINALLY in the Bay Area there’s an Afro meets Dancehall collab class! Two of your favorite dance teachers, Toba and Aimee Rose, get together to make one fun ass class. Come through and expect the perfect combo of the two high energy and dynamic dance styles.
Aimee Rose is a proud native San Franciscan and a lifelong passionate dancer. She believes life is a dance, and no matter what you are doing, you can always employ the mentality of a dancer: discipline, strength, grace, creativity, and energy.
Aimee specializes in Jamaican Dancehall and is also well versed in Indian Bhangra, Bollywood, Afro-Brazilian, Samba, Afro-Haitian, Cuban Folklore, Salsa, House, and is a a dance workout enthusiast.
Toba Olorungbemi is a Nigerian-American creative whose movement is rooted in his upbringing in New Jersey, where he grew up dancing at parties and soaking in the energy of the diaspora. While studying at Harvard University, Toba solidified his place in the dance community as the founder of the university’s first African men’s dance group, later serving as the Captain and Lead Choreographer for Omo Naija and The Wahala Boys.
His style is a high-energy fusion of modern African dance, heavily influenced by Jersey’s club culture and street styles including Azonto, Naija Street, and Coupé Décalé. Since moving to the Bay Area, Toba has become a member of the 1Up Crew, where he continues to push the boundaries of Afro-fusion.
Beyond the movement, Toba’s work is a mission to build a dedicated community for the African diaspora in Northern California. He hosts Afro classes to “Vibe With Purpose.” Through every class and choreography, Toba strives to create a space where purpose and passion and fun collide.
