Discovering the Past at the CNU University Museum

Located inside Cebu Normal University’s Main Campus, the CNU University Museum is a place where we can find the history and culture preserved through different collections.

During my visit, one of my favorite parts was seeing the vintage items and old collections displayed inside the museum such as old collections of banknotes, paintings, and the university's uniform throughout the ages. Each and every item felt like a small piece of the past that gives us a glimpse of how people lived and what life was like before. My most favorite was the old piano located at the corner of the museum. It stood out to me because it reminded me that the now old and beat up unplayable piano was also once an instrument for many previous pianists to play on concerts and events.

It made me realize that museums are more than just places that keep old things. They help us understand our history, appreciate our present, and preserve our heritage for future generations.

As we celebrate Museums and Galleries Month 2026 with the theme “Bridging Divides, Preserving the Present for Tomorrow,” let us take time to appreciate places like the CNU University Museum, where the past continues to connect with the present.

You don't always need a picture of what's inside to appreciate its value. Sometimes, sharing your experience is enough to encourage others to discover it for themselves. 💙
