I'm not sure I understand what the phrase "doesn't work out" really means. I think where we need patience is to understand that any human being in the way we feel about them goes through changes. Closure is a myth, and it separates us from the reality that love is eternal, shifts in shape, it is always available to us. And as James Taylor's song the secret of life says, it's okay to feel afraid, just don't let it stand in your way. We can't box up relationships no matter how hard we try.
