And sometimes, it hurts

Especially when you know the truth but cannot spend your life defending yourself to everyone

But somewhere along the way, you make a decision

You let go of the shame that was never yours to carry

You stop walking with your head down

You stop allowing other people’s version of your story to determine how you show up in the world

You may not be able to control what is being said about you

But you can decide how you carry yourself through it

And yet, you rise

You walk tall

Because someone else’s version of your story does not get to become your identity
