A premium lounge inspired by the landscape beyond the runway. As Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) prepares to open, the airport has unveiled a first look at The Rayleigh Lounge.

Drawing inspiration from the Cumberland Plain and Blue Mountains, the space celebrates the colours, light and character of Western Sydney.

Designed by COX to create a uniquely local experience from the moment passengers arrive.

Rich stone and timber make a calm space.

Love the cinnamon choice. And now, if only they could hear the bush sounds from that area. Just a thought- you’re welcome 😂

The bar front is the decision I would hold onto all the way through construction: that heavily figured stone in rust and umber under the timber-fin ceiling means the whole Cumberland Plain idea is carried by two materials rather than by graphics, and the ochre chairs and pale woven panels only have to agree with them. Curious how the stone comes up once it is a real slab rather than a render.
