Back in the studio today, exploring the idea of portals, other worlds and the presence of something unseen.

I began by experimenting with mist and atmosphere, allowing the painting to develop intuitively through movement, colour and light.

I've been interested in how a painting can suggest something mysterious without revealing exactly what it is. Is the light an opening, or is something emerging from it?

I like the idea of leaving that question unanswered and allowing the viewer to find their own interpretation.
