💙 The same words. Over and over again. But have you ever stopped to wonder what they might mean?

As a mum, I’ve learnt that communication isn’t always about finding new words.

Sometimes it’s about understanding the ones our children keep repeating. 🥹

A question asked ten times.
A phrase from a favourite cartoon.
The same sentence repeated throughout the day.

This is often called echolalia, and for many autistic children, it can be a meaningful part of how they communicate, process information or find comfort.

I’ll admit, there have been moments when I didn’t understand the repetition. When I wished I knew what my child was trying to tell me.

But I’m learning to listen differently. 🤍

To look beyond the words.
To give more time.
To find meaning in moments I might have once overlooked.

Because sometimes, what sounds like repetition to us is communication in a form we’re still learning to understand.

And Alhamdulillah, every little moment of connection is something worth celebrating. 💙

Our children don’t always need us to change the way they communicate. Sometimes they need us to change the way we listen.

🤍 Save these 7 gentle strategies for later.

💙 Share this with a parent who might need it.

🫶 Does your child repeat favourite words, questions or phrases? I’d love to hear your experience.
