Environment Agency contractors will set up the main site compound on the beach crest at Splash Point between Friday 30th October and Tuesday 3rd November 2026.
Due to the significant volume and depth of shingle on the promenade following recent named Storms Austen and Boelo, the promenade will also be cleared of shingle during these dates.
Phase 1 of shingle recycling will then commence on Wednesday 4th November 2026. Material will be moved from between Splash Point and Cliffe Gardens and evenly distributed back to the central section of beach. The extraction location may need to relocate to Tide Mills if there’s insufficient surplus shingle at Splash Point. Work is anticipated to take between 4 and 6 weeks.
