This year, we’re delighted to announce that every child can enjoy a completely 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 Father Christmas Grotto at Seaford Christmas Magic – including a gift from Santa himself!
But we need your help to make the magic happen!
We’re asking our wonderful local community to come together and donate any unwanted or spare:
• Christmas trees (real or artificial)

• Christmas lights
• Any festive items that could help us transform our grotto into a magical Christmas wonderland!

Our aim is to create a truly special experience for every child, without any cost to families.

If you have anything tucked away in your loft, garage or cupboards that could help, we would be incredibly grateful.

Let's make Christmas magical for every child in Seaford! ❤️

Environment Agency contractors will set up the main site compound on the beach crest at Splash Point between Friday 30th October and Tuesday 3rd November 2026.

Due to the significant volume and depth of shingle on the promenade following recent named Storms Austen and Boelo, the promenade will also be cleared of shingle during these dates.

Phase 1 of shingle recycling will then commence on Wednesday 4th November 2026. Material will be moved from between Splash Point and Cliffe Gardens and evenly distributed back to the central section of beach. The extraction location may need to relocate to Tide Mills if there’s insufficient surplus shingle at Splash Point. Work is anticipated to take between 4 and 6 weeks. by @seafordtc

Following the recent storms, Seaford's community has come together once again, with volunteers giving their time to help clear the shingle from the promenade.

A huge thank you to Seaford Beach parkrun for coordinating the effort, alongside volunteers from @seafordstriders, @mercreadyouthcentre and the wider community. Thanks to everyone involved, significant progress has already been made, with the section by the lay-by cleared and work continuing towards Frankie’s Beach café.

It has been wonderful to see so many people lending a hand and working together for the benefit of the town.

The next shingle-clearing session will take place 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 (𝟯𝟬 𝗢𝗰𝘁) 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟬𝗮𝗺. Volunteers will meet opposite the end of Dane Road and continue working towards the Martello Tower.

Whether you can spare half an hour or a few hours, all help is welcome.

Lewes District Council are currently upgrading council-owned bus shelters across Lewes District and Eastbourne.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 - 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

A quarter of the 36 new shelters being installed across Lewes district are now in place. Three quarters of all bus shelters across the district have been unaffected as they do not fall under Lewes District Council ownership.

A third of 164 new shelters being installed across Eastbourne are now in place.

To provide the fairest approach possible:
• installations have been scheduled to cover an even geographical spread across each authority.
• where possible, installations have been scheduled in-line with the outgoing contractor's programme of removals.

The contractor had previously experienced delays in the manufacture of some shelters, resulting in a gap between the removal of older shelters and the arrival of their replacements. Lewes District Council have worked closely with the contractor to speed up the programme of installations, to ensure the remaining shelters are delivered as quickly as possible.

As a result, the installation crew has now doubled, which will further speed up the programme of installations.

At the request of Lewes District Council, the supplier is also looking at introducing solar-powered bus shelters, which will further enhance the new range of shelters. This is an enhancement of the existing contract.

Installation of shelters with digital advertising screens has now begun. Lewes District Council recognises that people have been waiting for the new shelters and appreciates their patience while the programme progresses.

The programme is scheduled for completion by mid-February 2027.
