Switched deodorants twice this year? It's probably not your hygiene.

Lots of women sweat more in their 40s, and some notice they smell different. Awkward to bring up? It shouldn't be. Nothing is TMI here.

You have two kinds of sweat glands. One covers your whole body and cools you with water and salt. It barely smells. The other lives in your armpits and groin, reacts more to stress, and makes odour when skin bacteria break its sweat down.

Perimenopause turns up the heat dial: hot flashes, night sweats, broken sleep. Research on menopause and body odour specifically is thin, so be wary of products promising a menopause-only fix.

Two reasons to book a visit:

1. Heavy sweating that's new or constant, not just during hot flashes
2. Drenching night sweats with fever or weight loss

Good to know I had no idea hormones can affect this. Someone I know has started smelling differently but I feel it is a sensitive topic and I would never want to hurt their feelings.
