At Thrive, we look beyond the surface to understand what’s really going on, then create a plan built around your body, your goals, and how you want to feel. Because feeling your best shouldn’t be about being “average.” It should be about feeling like yourself again, healthy, confident, and fully thriving. Ready to take the next step? Here’s what you may not know about my story… I live in Keswick with my husband Jory (yes, a veterinarian 🐾) and our four amazing kids who are all grown up. Our house is filled with laughter, love, and a small zoo two dogs and three cats. When I’m not supporting clients on their hormone health journey, you’ll find me at the gym, playing my concert harp, or on the water trying to perfect my windsurfing skills (even if “middle-aged” is technically true, I choose to ignore it 😉). Life is full, messy, and beautiful and I wouldn’t have it any other way. #HormoneHealth #MeetDrAmber #LifeLately #WellnessJourney #HealthyLiving #BehindTheScenes by @dramberbocknekmd
When people ask what my approach to medicine is, my answer is always the same: true wellness starts from within. For more than 25 years, I've had the privilege of caring for patients through every stage of life. One thing has remained constant, when we support our health from the inside, it has a way of showing on the outside. More energy. Greater confidence. A clearer mind. A renewed sense of feeling like yourself again. That's the philosophy that inspired Thrive and continues to guide every recommendation we make. We look beyond symptoms to understand the whole person, because lasting wellness isn't about changing who you are. It's about restoring the health that allows you to live fully. Swipe through to learn more about my journey, the story behind Thrive, and the approach that shapes the care we provide every day. If you've been looking for a place where your concerns are heard and your health is approached with compassion and curiosity, I hope this gives you a glimpse of what we're all about. #DrAmberBocknek #Thrive! #AestheticMedicine #WholePersonCare #FeelLikeYourselfAgain by @dramberbocknekmd
Third bladder infection this year, and you're in perimenopause or menopause? The neighbourhood may have changed. Before menopause, estrogen keeps vaginal tissue thick and well stocked with good bacteria called lactobacilli. They make acid, like a moat around a castle, that helps keep troublemakers out. After menopause, estrogen drops, the tissue thins and those good bacteria lose their food. Troublemakers settle in right beside the urethra, the shortest path to the bladder. This is part of genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM): dryness, burning, painful sex and repeat urinary tract infections. It's common, and it's treatable. You don't just have to live with it. In trials, estrogen pills didn't prevent these infections, but low-dose vaginal estrogen did. Antibiotics treat the infection. Estrogen treats the neighbourhood. Comment UTI and I'll send you the questions to ask, including whether it fits your medical history. Fever, chills, back or side pain, or blood in your urine? Get care the same day. Feeling unlike yourself lately? It may be worth looking beyond stress alone. 🤍 Low testosterone can contribute to changes in energy, mood, motivation, muscle strength, and sexual health. But these symptoms can also be linked to sleep issues, depression, other medical conditions, or everyday stress. That’s why guessing isn’t the answer. Understanding your symptoms, reviewing your health history, and getting the right testing can help clarify what’s going on. You deserve to understand what your body is telling you, not simply push through and hope things improve. 💪 #DrAmberBocknek #ThriveAurora #Testosterone #HormoneHealth #MensHealth by @dramberbocknekmd

Same diet. Same weight. And suddenly your cholesterol is up? You didn't do anything wrong. The American Heart Association looked at this. Across the menopause transition, LDL cholesterol rises, and that rise tracks with menopause itself, not just age. Here's why. Estrogen helps your liver pull LDL out of your blood. Think of it as a cleanup crew. When estrogen drops, the crew cuts its hours and more LDL lingers. Fat also tends to move to your middle, around your organs, even if the scale doesn't budge. None of this hurts, which is exactly why midlife is the time to measure, not guess. The whole picture matters: lipids, blood pressure, blood sugar and where body fat sits. Arterial stiffness testing adds one more data point. Comment HEART and I'll send you my free guide, How Old Is Your Heart, Really?, with the numbers worth asking about at your next checkup. Switched deodorants twice this year? It's probably not your hygiene. Lots of women sweat more in their 40s, and some notice they smell different. Awkward to bring up? It shouldn't be. Nothing is TMI here. You have two kinds of sweat glands. One covers your whole body and cools you with water and salt. It barely smells. The other lives in your armpits and groin, reacts more to stress, and makes odour when skin bacteria break its sweat down. Perimenopause turns up the heat dial: hot flashes, night sweats, broken sleep. Research on menopause and body odour specifically is thin, so be wary of products promising a menopause-only fix. Two reasons to book a visit: 1. Heavy sweating that's new or constant, not just during hot flashes 2. Drenching night sweats with fever or weight loss Comment SWEAT and I'll send you my free guide on what actually helps, day and night. Educational only, not a substitute for advice from your own care practitioner. #perimenopause #hotflashes #nightsweats #menopausesymptoms #AuroraOntario by @dramberbocknekmd
💬 Comment “ROOT” below to learn more about hormone health and understanding your symptoms. 👇 Feeling more emotional before your period? 💗 Changes in mood, sleep, and your menstrual cycle can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when you don't know what's causing them. Progesterone plays an important role in the menstrual cycle, but symptoms like irritability, anxiety, worsening PMS, breast tenderness, and spotting can have several possible causes. These symptoms alone don't confirm low progesterone. ✨ Pay attention to your cycle, notice recurring patterns, and speak with your healthcare provider if symptoms persist or interfere with daily life. Understanding the possible causes is an important step toward finding the right support. Your symptoms deserve attention, not assumptions. ❤️ 💬 Comment “ROOT” to learn more about hormone health and exploring the underlying causes of your symptoms. 👇 ❤️ Like this post if you found it helpful. 📲 Share it with someone who needs this reminder. 🔖 Save it for later! #Progesterone #HormoneHealth #WomensHealth #PMSAwareness #MenstrualHealth by @dramberbocknekmd
