High tide flooding* as seen from Kappas Marina in Sausalito on Mon, Oct 26 🌊

(*Turns out these aren’t king tides! This flooding is coming from a combination of El Niño-induced thermal expansion, Kelvin waves, and the full moon cycle.)

It boggles my mind the way the seawater comes and goes—I have so much to learn. Grateful for our floating home neighbors who keep each other informed, since calling the bay home is definitely a practice in paying attention and planning ahead.

Correction (updated): Turns out these aren’t king tides! This flooding is coming from a combination of El Niño-induced thermal expansion (warm water takes up more space), Kelvin waves, and the full moon cycle. Actual king tides are expected in Nov, Dec, and Jan.
