September 2026 Recap: (mostly for my own documentation, and for anyone else who wants a peek into our life! 😅)
It was a busy month with lots of side projects. Cassie is still looking for a job after being laid off back in January, so we’re trying to pick up all the side things we can (while also managing the intense emotions of job hunting and getting rejection after rejection…🫠😭).
1. Cassie went back up north to finish some final projects on our friends’ house that she’s been helping remodel. Cassie’s got skills! 💪🏻 And they have a beautiful house! 🤩
2. Before & after of their kitchen 😍
3. Tucker participated in Theater Blast at UAA—performing a (student-written) skit with only 10 hours of practice! Everyone did an incredible job & we are so proud of Tucker for getting out of his comfort zone!
4. Labor Day gathering with friends ❤️
5. Family morning at the park
6. We sold the boat 😭 (good to not have to pay for it anymore, but so sad for having to sell it and everything that represents 😞💔)
7. Our dishwasher broke 🤦🏻♀️ So grateful Cassie could fix it 🙏🏻 (and we all appreciate it that much more after handwashing all our dishes for two weeks!)
8. Cassie & I made totes for a neighborhood fundraiser for our dear friend 💛
9. Another Re:Create (Artist’s Way) gathering, making jewelry
10. Tucker’s Birthday
11. Mismatch day at the high school 😂
12. Bronco is growing like a weed!!
13. I got to go up north for a quick trip to help my friend Stephanie pack up her house, and I stopped by my mom’s on the way home ❤️
14. I got to help another friend with her women’s retreat—Cassie & I made totes, and I helped set up some of the food 😍
15. Also during this same crazy busy week—it was our big Pride weekend that Pride of Southern Utah puts on, so we got to help with the Drag show (which was SO joyful!), Pride in the Park, and the after party 💃🏼
16. UAA homecoming flag football game that Calvin & Jack played in 🏈
17. Homecoming dance for Calvin & Tucker and their friends
18. Cassie had a couple of late nights building some props for big events & I got to assist with setup & strike-down
19. Other random fun throughout the month

Ugh the job process is so hard. Jara has had several layoffs over the years and it’s the worst. No matter how much you try to not take it personally or not get your hopes up, it’s all impossible and exhausting. I’m so sorry! Also - what a talent. Love a good DIY house project.
