September 2026 Recap: (mostly for my own documentation, and for anyone else who wants a peek into our life! 😅)

It was a busy month with lots of side projects. Cassie is still looking for a job after being laid off back in January, so we’re trying to pick up all the side things we can (while also managing the intense emotions of job hunting and getting rejection after rejection…🫠😭).

1. Cassie went back up north to finish some final projects on our friends’ house that she’s been helping remodel. Cassie’s got skills! 💪🏻 And they have a beautiful house! 🤩
2. Before & after of their kitchen 😍
3. Tucker participated in Theater Blast at UAA—performing a (student-written) skit with only 10 hours of practice! Everyone did an incredible job & we are so proud of Tucker for getting out of his comfort zone!
4. Labor Day gathering with friends ❤️
5. Family morning at the park
6. We sold the boat 😭 (good to not have to pay for it anymore, but so sad for having to sell it and everything that represents 😞💔)
7. Our dishwasher broke 🤦🏻‍♀️ So grateful Cassie could fix it 🙏🏻 (and we all appreciate it that much more after handwashing all our dishes for two weeks!)
8. Cassie & I made totes for a neighborhood fundraiser for our dear friend 💛
9. Another Re:Create (Artist’s Way) gathering, making jewelry
10. Tucker’s Birthday
11. Mismatch day at the high school 😂
12. Bronco is growing like a weed!!
13. I got to go up north for a quick trip to help my friend Stephanie pack up her house, and I stopped by my mom’s on the way home ❤️
14. I got to help another friend with her women’s retreat—Cassie & I made totes, and I helped set up some of the food 😍
15. Also during this same crazy busy week—it was our big Pride weekend that Pride of Southern Utah puts on, so we got to help with the Drag show (which was SO joyful!), Pride in the Park, and the after party 💃🏼
16. UAA homecoming flag football game that Calvin & Jack played in 🏈
17. Homecoming dance for Calvin & Tucker and their friends
18. Cassie had a couple of late nights building some props for big events & I got to assist with setup & strike-down
19. Other random fun throughout the month

Tucker turned 18!! (More than a month ago…! 😅) This kid/baby adult has been through so much in his life, and it has been amazing to see his strength and resilience through it all. He is really coming into himself this year and I get teary eyed seeing him so happy and so involved. 🥹

He didn’t want to make a big deal out of his birthday, but Cassie created an epic game/scavenger hunt highlighting the things he can do now that he’s a legal adult…and it was hilarious. 😆 Mike & Chris came down to take him to lunch, which was so sweet, and then we went out to dinner with just him & Calvin. And then I spent way too long making cake toppers showing him at every birthday from birth to 18–which was so worth it. 🥹🥰

Oh how we love Tucker and all of his debate-loving, fairness-policing, artistic creating, and human rights advocating. He is an incredible person. ❤️❤️❤️ by @hollyksmith12

Catching up. 🤪 August 2026 Recap:

1. Musical Cars: We sold our van & currently working on selling our truck, and bought a (used 😉) Lincoln Navigator (to replace those two) & a mini cooper (for a teenager car)…it’s been a lot of researching and buying & selling…! 🤪
2. We were gifted a new rug & sold our coffee table & bought a new double dog crate for the dogs that we all love 😍
3. We all finally worked through our trauma & Calvin got his driver’s permit! 😬🙌🏻
4. My birthday—full of appointments and back to school events 😅
5. First day of school!
6. Party to reclaim my 40th (since my real 40th last year was right after Tucker’s car crash & back surgery)—everyone wore something that brought them joy & brought a favorite food & we all talked about things we love 💕
7. The display from my party showing the things that have brought me joy throughout my life 🤍
8. Impromptu spa day one Saturday morning, courtesy of Hallie (and somehow she got all the boys to participate!) 😅
9. I started a book club/class for The Artist’s Way—we discuss the book and do creative activities twice a month, and it’s so fun!
10. Family dinner outside
11. Random sightings of Hudson’s bear 🤣
12. Tucker’s first time driving again!
13. Lots of organization projects that are making my heart happy
14. Gorgeous sunrises as I walk the dogs

Back to school (last week)!! 🍎 We survived summer! 🙌🏻 And we are all loving/thriving being on a routine again! 🙏🏻

I miss the slow mornings and the open schedules of summer, and I always worry about the kids having good friends and good teachers at school…but/and I also LOVE having a quiet, clean house for a few hours every day, and I think we’re all enjoying/appreciating having a little space from each other. 😅

Other than Bronco being sick and missing the first two days, we are so grateful to have everyone healthy and in school full time. 🙏🏻 (Especially after last year with Tucker missing the entire first semester 💔)

Speaking of Tucker…this is his senior year and I just can’t believe it. That last picture has me all 🥹😭

(P.S. Did I run these pictures through AI to make our door look even and smooth, instead of faded and chipping like it is in real life? Yes, yes I did. 🤓 My goal is to have it painted/refinished before end of school pictures. 😜) by @hollyksmith12

After doing our 4th of July watermelon explosion this year, I made a fun video compilation of all our watermelon explosions over the last 12 years…and then I never posted it. So I’m sharing now, because why not?! 🤷🏻‍♀️😅 by @hollyksmith12

July went fast but moved slow. Hot temps + kids home + friends gone + Cassie unemployed = a lot of overwhelm. But also a lot of good times too. 🫶🏻

1. We celebrated the 4th of July as a family on the 3rd & then with friends on the 4th
2. Our traditional watermelon explosion 🍉
3. Cassie took a solo trip down to Vegas to try to reset her nervous system (poor girl, it’s been rough since she got laid off)
4. We’ve been hosting “Cassie’s Office Hours/Coffee” once a week where we make people coffee & visit—it’s been fun (and it’s never been documented until Kent came because he’s the best at documenting everything!)
5. Citrus Market launch party for our neighbor’s amazing lip gloss!
6. Bronco’s friend Asher stayed with us for a few days, and then we sent them up on the Salt Lake Express on their own to stay up with Stace & Cait for a few more days—fun for everyone!
7. Calvin got to go on a trip to the beach with his friend’s family
8. Our friends the Bleak’s came into town & we were able to hang out with them a few different times, including a double date for the adults! 🫶🏻
9. We drove up north to pick up Bronco, and we went to pride day at Lagoon 🏳️‍🌈
10. We also got to go to a last-minute comedy show with Stace & Cait which was so fun!
11. Visiting my mom & sister on our way back home ❤️
12. Donating blood in honor of the one-year anniversary of Tucker’s gallbladder surgery & first blood transfusion (lots of residual trauma/emotions leading up to this first anniversary)
13. Date night to Barnes & Noble
14. Seeing some friends in The Lion King play, and then supporting our neighbor at a special cancer dance party right after 🫶🏻
15. Hudson & Hallie have been obsessed with their roller skates, so I took them to the skating rink & we lived it up!
16. Tucker has been working so hard in therapy to work through the trauma of his car accident so he can feel comfortable driving again—he’s making progress & we’re so proud of him!
17. Other random pictures

Not pictured: Tucker & Calvin both took online classes to get the boring classes out of the way, haha, and it kept them busy all month long.

Back in June, Cassie & I had our 21st wedding anniversary—our marriage is officially old enough to drink! 😅

We celebrated by creating a flight of margaritas to represent the different phases of life we’ve lived together. ❤️ It’s been a wild ride, but I love our life & love where we’re at. 🫶🏻👩🏼‍❤️‍💋‍👩🏻

We enjoyed a nice dinner out…and then a “nice” time at home making the drinks with the boys stealing our chips & salsa and not leaving us alone. 🤣🫠😂 by @hollyksmith12

Trying to catch up before school starts…! June was full of trips up north as Cassie helped Stace & Cait remodel their house, and me & the kids did our best to get into a rhythm for summer. 🤪

6. Tucker helping with the construction up north
7. Hallie decided to swim in her clothes 🤦🏻‍♀️

📍 It was amazing reconnecting with our season one guests, Holly and Cassie. We got life updates, shared our favorite queer reads, and chatted about how drag shows can be triggering for the trans community. 🫶🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

May Recap:

1. The start of hot weather—we love our swim spa and retractable shade!
2. Love our community of friends 🫶🏻
3. Calvin’s best friend Jack lives next door and they are often found talking in the most random of places 😜
4. Cassie went to a networking conference and had a really good experience
5. Kent’s 40th birthday dinner—it was all-out (of course) and amazing! 🤩
6. The best we could get of a Mother’s Day picture haha (Mother’s Day with two moms is kind of lame because the kids don’t take any initiative so we both just still end up doing everything 😒)
7. The first of many many late nights with Stace & Cait 😅—helping them design and plan out a full renovation of the house they just bought up in SLC (so excited for them…so sad for us 😭)
8. Cassie went up multiple times with Cait (and took Calvin & Tucker on separate occasions) to do all the construction work—demo, electrical, flooring, painting, cabinets, etc. It’s looking amazing!
9. I got to chaperone Hallie’s field trip to the farm
10. Tucker’s improv class performance
11. Mabel legit thinks she runs the house sometimes 😜🤣

15. The day after school ended, we drove up north for the day to attend Karli’s graduation party, and it was so fun to see everyone ❤️
16. Hudson & Hallie’s watermelon plants that they started on school field trips and insisted that we plant at home (fingers crossed they take 🙏🏻😅)
17. Hudson watches us make lattes & decided to start doing his own hot chocolate art 😂😍

19. Other random pics from the month (including lots of work on a potential business we were thinking of starting—Create Cafe—but put on hold for now)
20. Cassie’s women’s retreat at the end of April that I forgot to include in April’s recap—it was a neat experience for her & she made some good friends. ❤️

[Playing catch up] Last day of school! I LOVE doing these first and last day comparison pictures! (much to the kids’ dismay 😜)

It was a wild school year. Tucker’s car accident and surgeries resulted in him missing the entire first semester of school, but his teachers were amazing and he was able to work hard and catch up, and he ended the year with straight A’s! 🤯

Calvin thrived in school (especially math) and enjoyed continuing in guitar and even tried a hip hop class, and also ended the year with straight A’s. 👏🏻👏🏻

Bronco survived (did not love 😉) his first year at intermediate school, but did incredibly well in all his classes and even tried out theater. He can’t wait to go to UAA in another year! 😅

Hudson did great in 2nd grade and loved his teacher and friends. He’s super smart and well behaved at school…and then lets it all out when he gets home. 😅😉🫠

Hallie went to all-day kindergarten and LOVED her teacher. She dressed herself and often wore makeup and high heels and incredibly mismatching clothes 🤣, but she did it all with confidence and style. 💪🏻

We celebrated the last day of school by giving everyone a $5 budget to pick out a snack to share with the family, and then ate & played games together…it was actually really fun and a tradition I’d like to continue. 🥹❤️ by @hollyksmith12

April flew by! End of school year activities picked up, and we started working on some business ideas that are currently in the works. 🤞🏻 Cassie’s unemployment is hard in a lot of ways…but having her around for everything going on is kind of awesome. ❤️

1. Easter: fun brunch and egg hunt with friends, and then our own family egg hunt and fancy dinner
2. Tucker’s art show piece 🤩
3. Cassie’s Birthday: dr appt for Tucker, lots of driving kids around, art showcase for Tucker, special drinks for Curious hearts to end the night…and a fun evening with tacos & friends a few nights later ❤️
4. Tucker participated in a school chalk festival
5. Another hike for the moms 💪🏻
6. Hallie’s drawing of her siblings…including Tucker’s broken arm 😂
7. Calvin took a hip hop class this year and got to participate in the dance showcase, and we had so much fun watching him!!! 👏🏻
8. Hallie’s cereal freakout at Walmart—resulting in Cassie having to carry her out kicking & screaming 🤦🏻‍♀️🤪
9. Cassie & I’s first drag show!
10. Tucker went to Prom 😍🔥
11. Hallie’s tumbling class showcase
12. Tucker’s NHS induction—it’s pretty amazing what he’s been able to accomplish this year even with missing a whole semester of school
13. I got to chaperone Hudson’s class field trip, and his smile & joy made it all worth it ❤️
14. I was wearing fake lashes for awhile and had to stop because of dry eyes, so I’ve been working on growing my real lashes back out…and I’m pretty happy with the progress since January!
15. Other random fun
