Inking my Nunhead Cemetery inspired Grim Reaper 🪦🖋️

Translating the pencil sketch to ink is not without its challenges! Fortunately, it’s so detailed that I can consolidate the linework fairly quickly onto the new sheet of paper.

I like using fineliner pens for the outline and deep blacks. Their archive quality ink is indelible and lightfast, and they are very versatile.

Next, I start building up shading, layer upon layer, using pencils of various softnesses. From this point on, things get tricky as I need to be careful not to smudge the whole thing with my own arm.

I really like this stage, I can indulge in my love for B&W, forget myself in the process and concentrate on the podcast of choice @caneandrinse
