High tide flooding* as seen from the Sausalito floating homes on Wed, Oct 28 🌊

(*Turns out these aren’t king tides! This flooding is coming from a combination of El Niño-induced thermal expansion, Kelvin waves, and the full moon cycle.)

It’s fascinating to see our neighborhood transform. The concrete pilings beneath the boardwalk are fully submerged, and people are kayaking where we’d walked our dog less than an hour earlier.

Not King Tides yet — only Prince of Tides.

Correction (updated): Turns out these aren’t king tides! This flooding is coming from a combination of El Niño-induced thermal expansion (warm water takes up more space), Kelvin waves, and the full moon cycle. Actual king tides are expected in Nov, Dec, and Jan.
