14 years ago today. hurricane sandy rocked us all. a few of us stubbornly decided to stay the night, thinking "irene wasn't that bad last year. we'll be fine." around 9:20pm, it was high tide, full moon, the storm surge was coming. once the power cut, all hell broke loose. all the residents on florida street kept their cool, but we were all nervous as hell. power line transformers started exploding, car alarms going off, you could hear the bottom floor windows shattering from surrounding houses. @chrisvarvaro and @bushhippie hit the streets the day after. insane. a light snowfall hit on halloween. kids were still out trick or treating amongst the trash, pulled carpet/sheetrock, and sewage. i flew out a day after that, sitting at JFK just dumbfounded. breezy point and the rockaways still smoking from the fires. this isn't a sad post, but just a reminder. mother nature rules all. and always wear a bathing suit. #hurricanesandy #lbny and the best, the @minnesotaslongbeach ladies night sign caught a sick wave and made it all the way to the front of @timrollins21 's house. #ladiesnight #getpitted
