Journalists must be safe and free to report across the world.

2025 was the deadliest year ever recorded for journalists worldwide. Protecting them and ending impunity safeguards everyone’s right to reliable information.

Ahead of the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists on 2 November, EU Ambassador Jean-Marc Pisani reaffirmed EU support for UN and UNESCO efforts at a Dar es Salaam dialogue, alongside Finland’s Ambassador Anna Merrifield and representatives from Sweden. He shared the EU’s experience in protecting media freedom through the European Media Freedom Act.

Thank you to the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, UNESCO, CORI, the Media Council of Tanzania and the Union of Tanzania Press Clubs for advancing this important dialogue.

Morgan St., two doors down from Wolfe & Porter.
