What 3 Of Your SLC Leaders Have To Say About The Community Clean Energy Program
"Most people want cleaner air and a more sustainable future, but they haven’t always had a practical way to help build it. This program changes that. It gives residents and businesses a straightforward choice to support new renewable energy projects through the power bill they already receive." - Mayor Erin Mendenhall
"When we looked at the single biggest way Salt Lake City could reduce pollution, we saw the potential in the electricity grid. Ten years later: We're launching the Community Clean Energy Program. We're grateful to the many partners who have made this possible. And we're proud to bring this new option to our residents and businesses." - Sustainability Department Director Debbie Lyons
"Our community members want to make a difference every time they pay their power bills by catalyzing the development of new clean energy projects. The launch of this program delivers an easy way for them to do exactly that, while also supporting the growing energy needs of our state. We are so grateful for the many people who have dedicated countless hours to build the Community Clean Energy Program. By pooling our collective purchasing power across these 16 communities, we are driving the development of new renewable energy projects right here in our state and on Rocky Mountain Power’s grid." - Dan Dugan, District 6 Council Member and Chair of the Utah Renewable Communities Board
The Community Clean Energy Program will launch in January 2027, establishing the pathway to achieve net-100% renewable electricity for participating Salt Lakers.

After years of hard work, the Community Clean Energy Program (CCEP) is launching in January 2027!

Renewable energy is an investment in healthier communities, stronger economies, and future generations. That's why Salt Lake City is participating in the Community Clean Energy Program: to give you the choice of reliable, affordable, net-100% renewable electricity.

Learn more about the CCEP and Salt Lake City’s renewable energy goals at our link in bio.

The Community Clean Energy Program is launching soon! Rocky Mountain Power will mail your first notices about the program in November. Then, in January, nearly all Rocky Mountain Power customers in Salt Lake City will be automatically enrolled in the program with the option to opt out at any time.

The program adds an additional $4 to your household’s monthly electricity bill. Businesses and other organizations will pay a monthly rate based on electricity use.

The money you pay will support the dedicated build-out of new, large-scale renewable energy specifically for our electricity demand.
