Gabriella Joy

hi there!

my name is Gabriella Joy and i am a storyteller.
for those of you who have been along for the social media journey since 2020, you were probably expecting a slate, and I hate to disappoint, but things are looking a little different here, because in 2024, i was on a wine tour with some friends and being sober, i was the designated driver. woo!

i had just met everyone, so we were all still asking each other the usual questions. “so, what do you do outside of this?”

i mustered up the courage to say, “well, i’m a part time babysitter, dance instructor, and before that i was a credentialing specialist…”

i thought that was the answer they were looking for, but what they really meant was, “who are you?”
and though i’m sure the following wasn’t their intention, that question sent me down a spiral about who i am outside of what i do.

i am a daughter, a big (and little) sister, an aunt to 10+ beautiful nieces and nephews (and i say plus because who knows when the next one is coming). i am a friend, to anyone who will accept my rather intense way of being and loving. i am a granddaughter who has found hundreds of stories just by sitting with and looking into her grandmothers’ eyes.

i am a storyteller. a messenger, if you will. and for a while, i limited myself to telling stories through one medium: musical theater.

don’t get me wrong, i loooove musical theater (hands on a hardbody, you will forever be famous to me), but what i love to do, what makes me buzz and feel connected to my creator, is telling stories.

so i guess if i had to go back in time and answer that question all over again, i’d probably say…
