Life be life’n sometimes, and one thing I’ve learned is you ain’t gotta carry everything by yourself. 💯

We all go through things that people may never see or understand, but having the right people in your corner can make all the difference.

Sometimes it’s not even about somebody having the answers. Just knowing somebody genuinely cares, listens, and checks on you means more than people realize.

And don’t forget, the ones who always seem strong need somebody too.

Who’s checking on the person everybody else leans on?

Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) — This action film follows John Rambo, a Vietnam War veteran, as he is released from prison by the government for a top-secret covert mission. He must return to the jungles of Vietnam, the last place on Earth he’d want to go, to document the possible existence of missing prisoners of war (POWs). Rambo is given strict orders not to rescue any, but when he defies these commands, he is abandoned and forced to rely on his brutal combat skills to save the POWs.

One interesting production fact is that James Cameron, known for directing films like “The Terminator” and “Aliens,” wrote a first draft of the screenplay for this film. He was concurrently writing these other major projects at the time. Cameron’s script, titled “First B*ood II: The Mission,” was described as having the same basic structure as the first film but was more v*olent.

What makes Rambo: First Blood Part II stand out is its exploration of the Vietnam War POW/MIA issue, a theme that resonated deeply with audiences. The film portrays a lone warrior’s fight against overwhelming odds, highlighting themes of abandonment and the struggle for redemption. Its central question is whether one man’s defiance can bring justice to those forgotten by their government.

A month ago Elissa Slotkin stood on a stage and bragged about her education. She had gone to Poland and Hungary, she said, and studied the forces that beat Viktor Orban, and she brought the lessons home. There is a playbook for these authoritarians, she said, and there is a playbook for getting out of it. She said it like the notes were a weapon. She said it weeks before the police surrounded a constitutional court in Warsaw.

Then came Friday night. Riot police cordoned off the Constitutional Tribunal, the court that had stood in the prime minister’s way, and a judge the president never swore in suspended the court’s president and vice president. The court itself called it an illegal takeover and a coup d’état. The prime minister took credit for restoring the rule of law. The president flew home from Africa, walked through the crowds, climbed the barriers, and entered his own court. It reads like Slotkin’s playbook, in real time: the broad coalition, the corruption charge, the court neutralized, all of it dressed as saving democracy. The lessons she brought home from Poland arrived in Poland first.

Nobody says she ordered the police to the court. Nobody has to. The question is whose side the playbook serves, and the answer was on the stage a month ago: the side that seizes the court and calls it law, the side that suspends the judges and calls it order, the side that treats a constitutional tribunal as an obstacle to be removed rather than a limit to be obeyed. Slotkin brought home lessons from Poland. Donald Tusk just demonstrated the lesson back, and the lesson is that the authoritarian playbook has two covers. One of them is hers. Michigan should read both before Tuesday.
