Miles and miles of what looks like absolutely nothing! But somewhere out in those vast Nebraska Sandhills are sharptail grouse, and that’s exactly what we came looking for!
A buddy and I made a quick trip to northern Nebraska with the bird dogs, and what an adventure it turned out to be!
The dogs covered some serious country, young ROXI retrieved her FIRST and SECOND sharptail grouse, and we finished the hunt with a two-man limit!
Of course, hunting this country comes with a few challenges, including those nasty little cactus stickers. Pete even got his own post-hunt inspection on the tailgate!
And yes, I’m still out here doing it all with my little .410! From big country to big birds, that little shotgun continues to get the job done.
But the highlight of this trip wasn’t the limit. It was watching a young Cocker Spaniel continue to build experience, confidence, and memories one bird at a time.
