Two minutes you never forget. Thousands of Canada geese stacking into a pond nonstop, wave after wave, landing right in the decoys at our feet. No shooting, no chaos—just watching it happen. This is the side of waterfowl hunting that sticks with you long after the season ends. Would you have shot… or just watched? #canadageese #waterfowlhunting #goosemigration #decoyspread #alloutadventures by @allout_adventures
“CHECK THE EARS.” Ticks have been brutal at the ranch this year, so every day we’re checking dogs over carefully before and after runs. I looked Rudy over once and didn’t see anything… then happened to check him again later and found TWO ticks hiding down inside his ear. Never seen them tucked in there like that before. Had to grab tweezers to get them out. I’d heard squeezing or crushing ticks can release bacteria, so after pulling them off we sprayed hand sanitizer on them and it killed them almost instantly. Definitely reminded me how easy they are to miss this time of year. Anybody else dealing with terrible ticks right now? #AllOutRudy #TickSeason #DogCare #RanchLife #AllOutAdventures by @allout_adventures
This might be our last pigeon hunt of the season! These pigeons have gotten SMART! After months of hunting pressure, they’re getting harder to fool, and breaking that 100-bird mark isn’t nearly as easy as it was earlier in the season. We finished the day with 82 birds, some beautiful pigeons, some outstanding shooting, and plenty of laughs! From setting decoys at daylight to picking up birds at the end of the hunt, here’s a little start-to-finish look at another great day in the feedlot. Good friends, good shooting, a bunch of Holsteins watching the action, and another day doing what we love! Sometimes it’s not about the number of birds. It’s about the entire experience! #PigeonHunting #AllOutAdventures #WingShooting #BirdHunting #HuntingLife by @allout_adventures
Sometimes you just have to trust the old dogs! 🐾 Nearly 11-year-old Maggie is locked on point while young Annie honors her, although she doesn’t look completely convinced Maggie knows what she’s doing. 😂 Meanwhile, little ROXI is sitting patiently beside me, waiting for her chance to join the action. One tap and she’s off! After a little searching, ROXI gets the first bird airborne, and that’s when things get WESTERN! Birds start flushing everywhere, flying right over our heads, and our hunter makes some great shots! Three dogs, three different levels of experience, and one exciting finish! 🐾 Behind the Point — Every Point Has a Story. #BehindThePoint #BirdDogs #UplandHunting #CockerSpaniel #AllOutAdventures by @allout_adventures
Three different breeds, three different styles, and one common goal! 🐾 Tazer the German Shorthaired Pointer locks down the main point. Lucy the Labrador backs him up, holding her position. And then there’s ROXI, the little Field Cocker Spaniel, coming in like a wrecking ball to blow the whole show wide open! 😂💥 This is exactly why I love running different breeds together. Each brings something unique to the hunt, and watching them learn to work as a team is half the fun! Different instincts. Different jobs. One team! #BirdDogs #DogTraining #UplandHunting #CockerSpaniel #AllOutAdventures by @allout_adventures
Miles and miles of what looks like absolutely nothing! But somewhere out in those vast Nebraska Sandhills are sharptail grouse, and that’s exactly what we came looking for! A buddy and I made a quick trip to northern Nebraska with the bird dogs, and what an adventure it turned out to be! The dogs covered some serious country, young ROXI retrieved her FIRST and SECOND sharptail grouse, and we finished the hunt with a two-man limit! Of course, hunting this country comes with a few challenges, including those nasty little cactus stickers. Pete even got his own post-hunt inspection on the tailgate! And yes, I’m still out here doing it all with my little .410! From big country to big birds, that little shotgun continues to get the job done. But the highlight of this trip wasn’t the limit. It was watching a young Cocker Spaniel continue to build experience, confidence, and memories one bird at a time. Built by instinct, refined by time. #AllOutAdventures #SharptailGrouse #BirdDogs #410Shotgun #UplandHunting by @allout_adventures
Some people love the smell and feeling of a freshly cleaned house. Me? Give me a freshly cleaned and sanitized dog barn full of happy dogs! 🐾 After three hours of scrubbing, washing, and sanitizing just about every inch of our private dog barn, there’s nothing more satisfying than walking through and seeing all the dogs stretched out, relaxing, and soaking up the sunshine. It’s a lot of work keeping a kennel this size clean, but seeing these dogs happy, healthy, and comfortable makes every minute worth it. A clean barn, happy dogs, and a little peace and quiet. Doesn’t get much better than that! #AllOutAdventures #DogKennel #KennelLife #HappyDogs #DogCare by @allout_adventures
Talk about being stuck between a bush and a hard place! 😂🐦 These birds found themselves in a pretty tough situation! Nelly, the black Lab, had the left side covered. Callie, the GSP, was locked in on the right. And here comes little ROXI, charging straight up the middle FULL BORE! 💨 Three dogs working together, and these birds were running out of options FAST! One bird decides to make a break for it, flying right over my head! Somebody makes a heck of a shot, and ROXI finishes the job with a nice retrieve! That’s what makes hunting behind a combination of pointers, flushers, and retrievers so much fun. Different dogs, different jobs, all coming together for one exciting moment! Built by instinct, refined by time. #BirdDogs #FieldCockerSpaniel #UplandHunting #HuntingDogs #BehindThePoint by @allout_adventures
🐾 BEHIND THE POINT | Learning to Control the Excitement! Pickles is locked up on point, and I call for young ROXI, who’s on the other side of the hill flushing a bird for another pointer. Here she comes, full throttle and ready to go straight to work! But I’ve got a little training opportunity in mind. Instead of letting her immediately flush the bird, I call her back. It takes a couple attempts, but she finally comes bouncing over, wiggling her entire body with excitement! 😂 I get her sitting beside me, give her a moment to settle down, and when she’s ready, I give her the tap! Off she goes! She works behind Pickles, catches the scent, and gets that bird in the air! Here’s what I want people to understand about training young flushing dogs. I’m not trying to take away that excitement or natural hunting drive. That’s exactly what I love about these little Cockers! I’m simply teaching her that sometimes she needs to slow down, listen, and wait for permission before going back to work. And one of the most important lessons? Coming back to me doesn’t mean the hunt is over! She’s still young, still learning, and every bird gives us another opportunity to build confidence, patience, and experience. I thought she did a fantastic job! 👏 AllOut Instinct Method — Teaching Without Teaching. 🎯 Every Point Has a Story. #BehindThePoint #FieldCockerSpaniel #BirdDogTraining #UplandHunting #AllOutAdventures by @allout_adventures
🐶 COCKLEBUR KRYPTONITE — PART 2! 😂 The hunt is over, but the real work has just begun! After getting absolutely covered in cockleburs while hunting Nebraska sharptails, little ROXI needed some serious grooming! We recruited extra help, put two combs to work, and even tried some ShowSheen horse hair detangler to help loosen those stubborn burs. The best part? This seven-month-old Field Cocker Spaniel couldn’t care less! 😂 Lying on her back, tail wagging 100 mph, enjoying every minute of the attention! Pretty sure she’s the only one having fun! #FieldCockerSpaniel #HuntingDogs #Cocklebur #DogGrooming #UplandHunting by @allout_adventures
🐾 THE WORK BEHIND THE WORKING DOGS! Everybody loves watching the bird dogs work! Beautiful points, explosive flushes, incredible retrieves, and dogs doing what they were born to do. But there’s another side to owning and caring for a bunch of hardworking bird dogs that doesn’t get nearly as much attention! Today I’m taking you through approximately three hours of cleaning and maintenance at our privately owned dog barn, condensed into just a couple of minutes! I’m also trying out a new kennel cleaning and sanitizing product called WysiWash. We start by letting the dogs out into their play areas before tackling the stalls. Spraying, scrubbing, rinsing, and sanitizing! Next comes cleaning and sanitizing the water buckets before filling them with fresh reverse osmosis water from the system we installed in the barn. Once the stalls are finished, it’s time to tackle the main shop area. Floors, walls, workbenches, and just about everything else gets some attention! For clarification, this is our privately owned facility where we care for our own working dogs. We are not a commercial boarding kennel or a public kennel facility. It’s certainly not the glamorous side of working with bird dogs, but it’s an important part of keeping them comfortable and ready for their next adventure. The dogs get all the glory. I get the pressure washer! 😂 #WorkingDogs #BirdDogLife #KennelMaintenance #WysiWash #AllOutAdventures by @allout_adventures
🐾 BEHIND THE POINT | Little Legs, BIG Hops! Pete is locked up tight on point, doing his job like a professional. Meanwhile, little ROXI is coming in HOT! 🔥 I give her the go-ahead, and she’s off to the races! There’s a pretty good-sized downed tree between her and the action, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned about this little Cocker Spaniel, it’s that nothing gets in her way! 😂 She doesn’t hesitate, doesn’t slow down, and certainly doesn’t look for an easier route. She just launches those little legs right over that log like it’s nothing! And almost as soon as she lands, the birds start flying! That’s one of the things I absolutely love about this little dog. She’s got a ton of heart, incredible drive, and a head-on approach to just about everything she does! Little legs, BIG determination! 💪🐾 Every Point Has a Story. #BehindThePoint #CockerSpaniel #BirdDogs #UplandHunting #AllOutAdventures by @allout_adventures
