On October 16, we visited HGB Leipzig to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the AtA (Academy for Transcultural Exchange) programme!
@ata_hgb_leipzig Established in 2016, AtA is Germany’s first regular study programme for students and artists at risk in the fields of fine arts and graphic design.
The programme creates pathways into higher arts education, supporting students in preparing for degree studies at HGB through artistic foundation courses, workshops, language classes and opportunities to explore different artistic disciplines.
We were delighted to celebrate this milestone together and to reflect on the partnerships we have built over the past few years.
At the same time, we stand in solidarity with those affected by the increasing pressure on resources dedicated to asylum, forced migration and anti-discrimination. Ensuring equitable access to arts education and supporting displaced and at-risk artists and students are institutional responsibilities that must not depend on temporary funding or shifting political priorities. These commitments require adequate public funding and long-term structural support to ensure that universities fulfil their responsibilities towards social justice and non-discrimination.
