I've recently got the first roll of @harmanphoto #harmanphoenix2 #PhoenixFilm2

I really struggled with the first emulsion, it was all just a bit too much for me to understand, I hadn't spent much time with picture editing software (no I will not "just use" adobe). I spent a lot of time with photos that I knew I really liked but just couldn't seem to make it look half way to decent.

This however, be it the new emulsion is that next step to making a consumer colour film accessible to dolts like me, or I'm getting that little bit better in understanding the tools that I have.

Photography is a journey and continues to be so.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk, I've got the rest of the roll to scan and start playing with.

A night of music in benefit for @northernsoulkitchenberwick.

An exceptional evening held up by some spectacular musicians, Richard and Ruth of @ruth._.and._.rich fame are fantastic hosts with some serious chops.

A Socially Relaxed Pillow

This is the tankard of a local legend "2 Gal Bob"

Feared by pints across the UK, Bob has been asked many times how his iconic tankard came to have as many dings and indentations as it does, his usual answer is that he uses it as a pillow.

I was around the lucky many that was invited to celebrate his 70th and as a gift I thought it only right to gift him a print of his iconic pillow.

Bob has never once been drunk, only "socially relaxed". by @p2ogs

What even is a local landmark?

Is it a statue? A shop? "The Brake Your Neck Steps"? "Down by the harbour"?

Too often now its a shop, "its just next to Tesco" is a common sentence I hear all too often now.

Whats a part of your town that feels like "your town"?

I think its at best when it's the feeling of having lived experience in a place, feet on the ground. by @p2ogs

Kodak Pro Image 100

Another shot over the summer.

Through the summer I only had time to shoot 3 rolls of film, Ektar 100, Pro Image 100 and the new Lucky Colour 200.

The trouble is, I had these developed and scanned them all together, one after the other over a month and without looking through my negative folder, checking what shot is from what roll of film.

I'm not too sure that this is Kodak BUT i've shot my fair amount of Pro Image 100 and the tell I can see that is what I think it is, would be the pastel blues in the sky.

Kodak Ektar 100

I shot my first roll of Ektar this summer. I picked it a roll of it in london a while back, its a 100 ISO speed film that has been in certain circles, called Kodaks finest film stock.

Can I understand it? Absolutely not. But this is my favourite shot from the roll. Very Dave from @foldyard coded in my opinion.

Bi-Monthly Photo-walk: September

This September found us with the second of these photo-walks held in collaboration with @SoulKitchenBerwick

The premises of these photo-walks are getting people out together, sharing information, techniques and pushing yourself out of your regular comforts in photography. Camera’s don’t matter, last walk we had film shooters and this month we had high spec modern mirror-less, near 20 year old DSLRs and even a couple mobile phone shooters.

This walk was a bit of a continuation from our last walk and the prompt of “Three”, I wanted to narrow our view in a way and focus on just one thing but I also gave the prompt of “Connection” Which as you can imagine was commented on as a bit of an oxymoron.

The results however were fantastic, limiting people to try and focus on one thing gave a lot more freedom into how the frame looked and really had people thinking of what and how things connect.

In these photos I focused more on human connection, a child on a parents shoulders, a coffee being brought to a friend, a gentleman trying to share his newfound love of woodworking with people in a market. A cane, connecting a person to the ground, a bouquet of flowers for someone else. And the last triptych is the connection I made with a bloke smoking a cigar.

The prompts are always open to the persons interpretation, only one of the group thought to shoot the Union Bridge, quite literally one thing that connects Berwick to Tweedmouth.

With September marking the end of summer and moving to Winter, the search for connection in what ever way you can is important. This walk had me shooting with a new to me camera that was recently gifted to my by my father, his camera that he shot holidays and family trips. The camera that he shot one of my sisters weddings. This connection that I have with him means a lot to me, while I might not go on a photo-walk with him, it connects us in a way that means a lot to me.

Photography as a whole has been a new way for me to connect with people and Instagram has been a way for me to share and connect with people all over the world.

5 years of Berwicks Food and Beer Festival

5 years of the most hectic weekends known to my body.

5 years of dancing.

5 years of pinting.

5 years of meeting so many new friends.

5 years working with my wife to help the community come together.

Glad to have been a part of the history.

To all the traders, brewers, musicians, sound techs, volunteers and to the committee group past and present; thank you for these amazing years, im incredibly blessed to have worked alongside you all.

Amped’s Fringe Music Weekender

Darren and the team behind @Ampedcic have done something truly special.

Before I moved to Berwick, I would constantly be visiting over the weekends and being totally enamoured with the music scene at the time, making and then joining friends to help facilitate gigs, open mics and anything else I could.

As life gets in the way of all fun and art as it tends to do, I was reminded of the excitement I felt as a teenager and I totally believe that there’s a whole new generation of aspiring musicians that will have felt the same as I did.

Anyway, here’s a small sample of gigs and venues I was able to snap in between telling people how to get to @theicehouseberwick
