OASIS, Cardiff, 4 July 2025 *** "Please don't put your life in the hands of a rock'n'roll band," they once said. We blindly did so, nevertheless. And then in 2009, they threw it all away. We had been warned.

16 years on, the world may be as messy a place as never before, but for those few moments in Cardiff, it felt as if it had regained its equilibrium again. Maybe not for everyone, but definitely for those 75 000 of us, who were there to witness this gesture of reconciliation, forgiveness and brotherly love for the first time. And for millions of others, who had been waiting for this moment way too long, many - including myself - not even believing it would ever happen at all.

Lining up outside the Principality Stadium that afternoon, I had little hope for good snaps. Compact cameras and large stadiums don't go together too well and I had no idea about how close to the stage we might be even able to get anyway. All I wished for was to be able to take a few photos of the night, capture a bit of its atmosphere and make the best out of it. And there we were. Third row from the stage, right in front of Noel. Close enough and still away from the heaviest mayhem of the pit. Upon Liam's departure from the stage I tried to take a couple of final shots when this happened. Unexpected by everyone but the two of them (or was it a spontaneous thing even for them, that they just stuck to for the following gigs? Who knows...) and looking back at the videos from that night it all happened way faster than I remember.

Anyhow... here's the shot of my lifetime, one I never even hoped to ever have the privilege to take. Enjoy it. If you're going to any of the upcoming gigs, I'm happy for you. You'll have the time of your life!

@tomaslicthle (Bratislava)
@henrietadatko (Čadca / Brno)
@photo.maya.duljevic (Novi Pazar / Praha)
@matej_stasko (Vysoké Tatry / Praha)
@paayarazzi (Brno / Wien)

Ausstellung: 21. September – 4. Oktober 2026

Vernissage mit Konzert: Freitag, 25. September 2026

Es spielen 3 Wiener Bands:

11 years ago today I spontaneously joined @horrorvacuiband on their way from Brno to Prague where they played at @klub007strahov with @totenwald_. First we visited the ossuary in Brno together and then in Prague we sneaked into an old 19th century cemetery full of cracked tombstones which would allow you to have a little peek inside the graves. That's what you get when you hang out with crusties turned goths, I guess?
