Noviembre 25. Habana y Viñales. Just looked back at the pictures I took. Not many. Realising that, for the first time, I felt a hollow weight of being a tourist in a place where people are dedicated to surviving.

I talked a lot, almost everyone was literate and quick with words. Some careful, censoring autopilot on. Some others had no filter. Beautiful, noble and tired. Tired of the medical crisis, malnutrition, complete lack of basic infrastructure and justice. All of them shared a degree of sadness. All of them, for a Spaniard, felt a bit like home.

Difficult to gauge how they are now dealing with even longer power cuts, adding shades of struggle to their everyday. More scarcity, more fear. A gorgeous island, rich in so many ways, trapped in a chronic waiting they don’t deserve. by @pablochocron

Clapton to Edinburgh and back. Celebrating Sergio with the quite understanding that comes from a life shared. We watched the Hibs, and they won. I know our young selves would have enjoyed this minor pilgrimage to a ground where George Best once played. Sat next to Damon on the train. Love a train. Love my friends from home, and Sergio since we were two.
