🛰️ For Arctic monitoring programs, daylight is only part of the picture.

Eureka, Nunavut, faces months of polar night with harsh weather conditions further limiting optical collection. A multi-sensor approach is essential for maintaining situational awareness.

#CapellaSpace Synthetic Aperture Radar #SAR delivers high-resolution, all-weather imaging. This Colourized Sub-aperture Imagery (CSI) product uses multiple sub-apertures to accentuate manmade objects, angular features, and motion in vivid colour. CSI is included automatically with every Spotlight Ultra collect, which can help analysts distinguish these features across snow, ice, and rock.

🛰️ Pond Inlet, Nunavut, imaged by Satellogic's NewSat-33 at 50cm.

On the north coast of Baffin Island, Pond Inlet sits where Canada's Arctic priorities meet daily activity, from sovereignty and domain awareness near the Northwest Passage to ore carriers moving through Eclipse Sound and a community investing in harbour, housing, and marine infrastructure. Each of these works around the realities of the North, where road access is limited or nonexistent, the ice-free season is short, resupply arrives by sealift, and darkness and cloud persist for much of the year.

For remote northern AOIs, Satellogic's high-capacity, high-revisit constellation, helps teams:

▪️ Establish reliable baselines across hard-to-reach regions
▪️ Monitor coastline, sea ice, and community infrastructure as conditions change
▪️ Task new sub-meter collections when timely visibility matters
▪️ Build repeatable observation workflows across seasonal windows

👉 Working in a northern or remote AOI? Let's scope your collection plan.

🛰️ Arctic monitoring shouldn’t depend on a single sensor.

This Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image, captured using #CapellaSpace 25cm Spotlight mode, shows Canadian Forces Station Alert in Alert, Nunavut, Canada, the northernmost continuously inhabited place in the world. 🇨🇦

Optical imagery provides valuable visual detail, but Arctic darkness and cloud cover can limit collection. SAR offers another path, capturing imagery without relying on sunlight or cloud-free conditions. The right sensor depends on the conditions — and the mission.

For Arctic operations, SAR supports:

▪️Day and night imaging, including during polar night
▪️Repeat monitoring of infrastructure and surrounding terrain
▪️Observation of sea ice and changes in surface conditions
▪️Timely collection in regions with limited ground-based access

No single vendor. No single sensor. @PacGeo helps defence and intelligence teams select and source imagery across optical, SAR, and hyperspectral satellites. Our partnership with Capella Space is one part of that approach, providing high-resolution SAR imagery when darkness or cloud cover limits optical collection.

🛰️ Halifax, Nova Scotia, imaged by @Satellogic NewSat-48 on August 31, 2026.

Home to the Royal Canadian Navy’s Atlantic fleet and a major gateway for international trade, Halifax Harbour brings defence, shipbuilding, and maritime logistics together along Canada’s East Coast. 🇨🇦

For teams monitoring ports and other priority sites, Satellogic’s high-resolution imagery and Aleph platform enable users to:

▪️ Access high-resolution archive imagery to establish historical context
▪️ Task new collections over ports, shipyards, and other priority sites
▪️ Monitor changes in waterfront infrastructure and vessel presence over time
▪️ Manage tasking, archive access, and imagery delivery from a single platform

🛰️ A 50cm look at Resolute, Nunavut, captured by @Satellogic NewSat-48.
On the south shore of Cornwallis Island, Resolute is one of the most northerly communities in Canada. Its airstrip and the Canadian Armed Forces Arctic Training Centre make it a transportation, logistics, and research hub for Canada's High Arctic.

For remote northern AOIs, Satellogic's high-capacity, high-revisit constellation helps teams:
▪️ Establish current baselines over sites that are difficult and costly to reach
▪️ Monitor airstrips, infrastructure, and shoreline access as conditions change
▪️ Task new sub-meter collections while conditions allow
▪️ Search an untethered commercial archive of high-resolution imagery

👉 Planning imagery for a northern or remote AOI? Talk to the @PacGeo about the right data, and the right timing.

🛩️ Canadian International Air Show, Toronto, Ontario, captured by @Satellogic NewSat-46 at 50cm on September 6, 2026. @ciastoronto

Staged over Lake Ontario along the Toronto waterfront, the air show is one of the busiest airspace and waterfront events in the country. In this collection you can pick out the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) grounds, a harbour full of spectator vessels, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, and a single aircraft in flight over the lake.

🛰️ Look closely at that aircraft and it appears as a string of red, green, and blue copies rather than one crisp shape. Stationary features stay sharp, so the offset appears only on objects in motion, which makes this “rainbow effect” a useful way to identify movement in a single image. It shows up on highway traffic and vessels under way as well, less pronounced at lower speeds.

🛰️ Bruce Nuclear Generating Station, Ontario, captured by WorldView Legion at 15 cm HD.

On the shores of Lake Huron, Bruce is one of the largest operating nuclear facilities in the world and a cornerstone of Ontario's electricity supply. A single scene spans the whole site and still resolves the fine detail, from the switchyard and storage tanks to construction cranes and individual vehicles in the lot.

15 cm HD applies @vantor_tech HD technique to native 30 cm imagery, enhancing clarity and definition across the frame. That added detail helps teams identify smaller features and work faster across monitoring, mapping, and AI-enabled workflows, without a site visit.

This past weekend, we tasked an image @ysjairport #YSJ during the @airshowatlantic in Saint John, New Brunswick. 🛩️

At 50 cm, the image clearly shows aircraft staged along the flight line and across display areas, as well as crowd concentrations in public viewing zones.

This is a routine requirement in defence and intelligence work. When the activity you need to see exists within a narrow window, archive imagery may not capture the moment that matters. You need imagery collected on a specific date, over a specific location.

🛰️ @Satellogic revisit capacity and Aleph tasking workflow are built for exactly that. Define a point or area of interest, set a collection window, and track new imagery through to delivery — whether the subject is a scheduled exercise, a port or airfield movement, or a change in activity at a site of interest.

👉 If you're interested in learning more about Aleph or exploring how it may support your workflows, the PacGeo team is here to help.

🛰️ Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, captured by @Satellogic NewSat-44 at 50cm on August 7, 2026.

Located on the Beaufort Sea at the northern end of the Inuvik–Tuktoyaktuk Highway, Canada's only all-weather road to the Arctic Ocean, Tuktoyaktuk sits on a dynamic permafrost coastline where seasonal change, infrastructure exposure, and Arctic access all benefit from persistent observation.

For remote northern AOIs, Satellogic’s high-capacity, high-revisit constellation, helps teams:

▪️ Establish reliable baselines across hard-to-reach regions
▪️ Monitor coastline, infrastructure, and access routes as conditions change
▪️ Task new sub-meter collections when timely visibility matters
▪️ Build repeatable observation workflows across seasonal windows

👉 Working in a northern or remote AOI? Talk to the Pacific Geomatics (PacGeo) 🇨🇦 team about the right data, and the right timing.
