The details that make a feature wall.

This is Cottonwood Stacked Rise from @usstoneindustries. Its layered profiles and soft cream tones bring warmth, and paired with floating steel treads, the stone becomes the backbone of the staircase.

This modern duplex in Burnaby pairs crisp white panels and black-framed windows with our Wooden White Ledge panels — genuine marble with soft, wood-grain veining that gives each façade texture and depth without competing with the architecture.

The stone wraps both entries and corners, framing each unit like a feature wall you can walk into. It’s a great example of how natural stone can warm up a contemporary build.

Major props to the team that brought it together!

On this modern Surrey home, Rocky Mountain Linear Brick anchors the whole façade. It wraps the entry columns and runs the full width of the garage, then steps back and lets the architecture lead.

The long, slender profile echoes the home’s clean horizontal lines, and the weathered grey tones pick up the black trim and glass railings. Against the cedar soffits and rust-toned accent panel, the stone brings texture and depth without adding noise. It’s the look of modern brick, crafted from stone. taken in Surrey, British Columbia by @pacificartstone

An old bricklayer once told me, “When it’s hot out, you’ve gotta pick and dip, or that mortar will snap off on you before you even get the brick set.”

Those words stuck with me, and now I know exactly what he meant!

When working with brick slices, especially in hot, dry conditions, the material can suck the moisture out of the mortar before it has a chance to properly bond. A quick dip in water helps slow that process down, giving you a little more working time and helping the mortar develop a stronger bond instead of drying out too quickly.

The key is controlling that suction — not soaking the brick until it’s dripping wet. Different bricks absorb water differently, so knowing your material makes all the difference.

These are the first brick slices I’ve had to pick and dip, and let me tell you… it’s a game changer!

Funny how some of the best lessons in this trade come from the old boys who have already figured it out the hard way.

Old-school knowledge. Real-world results. Rock on. 🧱 taken in Blind Bay, British Columbia by @pacificartstone

“Brick or stone?”

We get asked this every week, and the honest answer is: it depends what you want the house to say.

Brick reads crisp and confident. It holds a hard edge, it takes colour beautifully, and it gives a modern elevation a bit of weight and formality. Stone reads grounded and quiet. The texture does the work, the colour stays soft, and it settles a house into its lot instead of announcing it.

Here’s the rare part — these two are next door to each other. Same builder, same street, same crew, same year. The only variable that changed is the cladding.

Right: Cavendish Burgundy Thin Brick
Left: Cascadia Ledgestone

Built by 88 Homes in Burnaby. Brick and stone installed by Stonemaster Construction. Both products supplied by us.

Neither one loses. That’s the point.

A LEGEND WAS BORN… 🐦⛳

BIRDIE MAN 🤣🙌

Arsh, finally joined us for the @havanofficial annual golf tournament, and apparently he’s been hiding something from us. 🧐

The man stepped up and sank THREE birdie putts, officially earning himself a new name:

BIRDIE MAN. 🐦🏌️‍♂️🙌

What a great day on the course!

Big thanks to @pacificartstone for sponsoring the tournament, and to our foursome: @gregvegt from @legendstoneworks , @bowline_construction, Arsh, for making it such a fun crew.

Great golf. Great people. Lots of laughs.

And the official birth of a legend.

Long live BIRDIE MAN! 😂🐦⛳ taken in Swaneset Bay Resort & Country Club by @pacificartstone
