🇼🇸🍽️ Introducing another high-quality 3D animation for Samoa Language Week: Mālie Pule - a hymn of praise and gratitude traditionally sung before a meal.

🇼🇸🙏🏽 Preserving language requires more than teaching vocabulary. Language survives when it is woven into everyday rituals, behaviours, and practices that shape who our children are. We encourage all tamaiti to not only learn Gagana Samoa, but to live it. Being Samoan is expressed through how we speak, how we carry ourselves, how we show respect, and how we participate in family and community life “E iloa le Samoa i lana tū, savali ma lana tautala.”

This holistic approach to language learning is why our animated resources focus on the daily moments that matter. “A’o Le’i Moe” teaches the evening practice of prayer before sleep. “Mālie Pule” teaches the daily practice of gratitude before a meal. This prayer reminds us to pause and give thanks for food that is a blessing, and that gratitude should be practiced in all areas of our life. These traditions are living practices that help shape and ground our children in values and faith, while using their language in practical ways, every day.

In this digital age, we want our values and culture to remain strong, especially in online spaces where our children already are. This 3D resources is:

🇫🇯 Thank you to the Fiji Catholic Community for inviting PKL to play a small but deeply heartfelt role in their inaugural Trans-Tasman Festival of Hope. We felt incredibly honoured to be welcomed into such sacred expressions of faith, custom, ceremony and community.

This vā is built on deep trust, enduring relationships, reciprocity and honour - we do not take that trust lightly.

There are many hands behind this body of work - writers, family members, translators, editors, narrators, artists, animators, sound engineers, and our incredible quality assurance support from Fiji. This is truly a village effort, and we look forward to acknowledging and celebrating every one of those contributions at the official release of the series in October.

For this first launch, it was important to us that we bring these resources directly back to the grassroots community who dreamed these stories into life.

Congratulations to community author and musician Joseph Vuicakau, wife Nina and his family, for sharing such an important message of identity, belonging and connection to place - particularly for children growing up in the diaspora.

Vinaka vakalevu to Father Ioane Epeli Qimaqima for his guidance, support and voice - from the altar to the recording studio! The children absolutely loved seeing and hearing their Parish priest become part of these animations ❤️

And fa’afetai tele lava to the passionate team at Satiu Studios, led by Gabriel Faiatau’uu-Satiu, for their work as script editors for the Mātala 2.0 Series. We love walking alongside you, learning from your expertise and sharing in this journey of storytelling.

We look forward to sharing these digital resources far and wide in celebration of Macawa ni Vosa vakaViti – Fijian Language Week, 4–10 October 2026, and this year’s powerful theme:

“Na noqu vosa me tekivu mai vale ka me’u na vosataka e na veisiga | My language starts at home, and I need to speak it every day.” Because language lives when it is spoken, sung, remembered and shared.

The visible and invisible umbilical cord - physical, emotional and spiritual is a generational thread connecting our children to their ancestors and their communities. We present to you a Tongan lullaby ‘Na’a Pēpē Mohe ā’ - a song of love, for all our children and theirs.

🇹🇴🎼✨ From the womb, we begin - we pray, we sing and we whisper words of love to our children before they ever see the world. The visible and invisible umbilical cord - physical, emotional and spiritual is a generational thread connecting our children to their ancestors and their communities. We present to you a Tongan lullaby ‘Na’a Pēpē Mohe ā’ - a song of love, for all our children and theirs. A big ‘ofa atu to our grandfathers, fathers and uncles who softly hold our children close.

For PKL, our children are not simply the future - they are the NOW. They need our love, our presence and our collective duty of care - the whole village wrapping around them, protecting their learning journey and giving them the language and cultural foundations to grow strong. One day, they will be the caretakers of our villages, singing lullabies to their own children. That journey, we know as Pacific people, begins in the womb.

This Tonga Language Week, we celebrate the lullabies that carry our love and our song lines from one generation to the next. From the womb, is where the journey of love begins.

🇹🇴 The official theme of Tonga Language Week is ‘Ko ‘etau hiva, ko e fe’unu mahu’inga ia ki he mo’ui ‘a e Tonga’: Our music is a vital strand of our Tongan culture.

🎼 Music is an integral part of a child’s learning journey. From lullabies sung to soothe a newborn, to helping language development, teaching important concepts and even as a form of self expression as the child grows and develops.

✨ The Faa’i Kavei Koula, or Four Golden Pillars, are foundational values of Tongan culture. As the language theme states, with music being a vital strand of Tongan culture, what better way to share these integral cultural values with children, than through the power of music!
