Manali, Leh, Dharamkot- 2022

So 2022 so far was quite eventful. I graduated from law school this year, had a crazy experience volunteering in a hostel in Goa for almost a month, went on a dream bike trip (although on a rented bike, something which I'd like to change vv soon), started my professional career- everything to be grateful for.

While it stems a lot from my wish to travel new lands, meet new people, at the core of all is my lovely immediate family which has supported me through thick and thin, who've always had my back, supported me with everything I've set my heart at. A short story- this Leh bike trip was extremely unplanned. One day before leaving for Delhi (the ticket for which was booked on the day I was travelling- chair car mein, for 17 hours) is when I expressed my sincere desire to go on this bike trip. A lot of parents with kids my age would never agree to such a trip. My parents after considering for a while allowed me to go, just asking me to come back alive and to keep them updated at every point.

At this stage of life, I feel at peace (just a little), not as unsettled as I was feeling for the last few years. I've been on this journey, like most of us of, actually knowing who we are, being comfortable in our skin and our true self. It gives me a sense of satisfaction that I'm perhaps one step closer to actually finding who/what kind of person I'd like to be in future if not what I'd be doing, and that in itself is something I think I can call progress.

So yeah, if nothing else, I'm enjoying this sweet little (momentary?) serene life, trying to live in the moment, one day at a time. Sending love and best wishes to everyone out there. Cheers to good health, happiness, life!🥂✨❤️ by @packingmyrucksack

Waiting in this sleeper coach of Ranthambore Express, patiently, to reach my destination, I couldn't help but wonder what it is about travelling that makes me so happy and alive. I have often been told by my dear mother, what are you running away from when you go away, are you running away from your problems, or perhaps at the end of the day from yourself?
I fail at providing her a satisfactory answer, lacking one myself. But what I do realize is that travelling is something which makes me take that extra step, to reach that milestone. It stops me from being stagnant. With every human interaction on the trips I have, be it listening to the life story of a lively lovely bus conductor on a 12 hour rough journey while I strongly hold on the urge to pee myself (the driver turned deaf everytime I asked him to stop, for 3 hours), to having a small chat with the chaiwala, you learn something new about human life. You learn that you need to adapt. You learn of how little you know.

And I'll tell you what, perhaps the biggest takeaway is to step out of that comfort zone. There is something else altogether about staying in a place for a longer span, the chaiwala you are regular to starts sharing stories, the ones which only the locals might be privy to. They start knowing your name, knowing exactly how you like your tea in the morning. It is precisely when you perhaps start calling that city or town familiar, knowing the streets and the shortcuts, getting in that comfort zone- it makes you want to stay more. Makes you realize you're not done soaking in the last of the city- yet you have to move. Step out of that little comfort zone, again. That feeling of moving away, when things start getting comfortable, is perhaps why I travel.

p.s. i shrieked like a 5 year old when I saw that rainbow after a long laborious day. by @packingmyrucksack
