This is a hunt that didnt come easy, after 4 days of rifle hunting public land in Chillocothe Ohio. I glassed this 9 point whitetail. I made a downhill 131 yard with my Ruger .350 legend. The buck was quartering away. At the time I believed I made the perfect shot, after following this blood trail precisely 1161 yards I realized this shot might not have been what I thought. My buddy Dave and I backed out, I called Buckeye Recovery and they located him with their thermal drone in his bed Thursday night . after letting the buck sit in his bed for about 9 hours the recovery mission began Friday morning. Dave and I started hiking in about 7am and got to where the buck was last bedded, unfortunately he was gone. Pure remorse and grieving began to set in. I followed multiple sets of tracks with no deer in sight. About 30 mins later, Dave said Chris you should see this. He had hiked to the bottom of the canyon and did circles, once I got to him he smiled and said take a look behind me. About 70 yards there laid my buck. I unfortunately hit hit in the liver and guts. This hunt had taught me that perseverance is what you need and the rewards makes up for the hard work and determination. Couldn't be happier with my first Whitetail Deer. taken in Chillocothe, Oh by @packnracks

After spending all day in his Ohio Hunters Education class. Carter scored 95/100 on his written test. He only needed 75 to pass. We're really proud parents. #odnr #odnrhunterseducation #hunt #nextgenerationhunter by @packnracks
