Finally, the official announcement!

When I asked if anyone would be interested in voicing Safira, I didn’t expect more than 10 people to respond. However, there were a few thousand, which meant I had to take more time to prepare everything. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your interest and patience!

Basically, everything you need to know is in this post. On the day I post the video, I’ll add any details I feel are important. Until then, if you have any additional questions related to this audition, feel free to ask them here in the comments.

I’d also like to announce that I’ll have the help of @xppen.uk in bringing a Seiphur episode snippet to life, which marks the debut of Safira’s voice! I’ll also be working on it with my great friend @bandidoxbandido.

Safira’s bellydance animation!

It’s 38°C today, and I’m already sweating just from watching Safira move. The worst part is that it looks pretty hot over on her end too.

Anyway… I finally finished animating these longest 13 seconds of my life. This took forever, and I couldn’t have done it without @lauravmj_cadena ‘s references.

Next up, I’ll be shifting focus to the more narrative side of things. You can look forward to some great news!

For this piece, I decided to animate one of my old illustrations, and to do so, I got to try out the XPPen Artist 22’ Plus graphics tablet.

In addition to a very large screen with adjustable height and various connectivity options, it comes with a super comfortable stylus, plenty of nibs, and a drawing glove.

Since it usually takes me a while to get used to new screens, I was surprised that I adapted to this one almost instantly. I highly recommend it!

Here are the two winners of my 100k DTIYS, @drawaldazz and @_maakuka_ . I really liked the way they applied their styles and techniques to my characters.

I couldn’t help but improvise an honorable mention for she.veils, who personified Safira in a splendid way.

Guess her name! It stars with an A.

Her design isn’t final yet coz I’m still exploring her looks before I commit to a character sheet. She is supposed to be a little goofy, clumsy and sharp-tongued, a bit obsessive, and capable of being mean when necessary. She’ll also be a source of comic relief.

Logline:

100K people seeing my stuff!

That’s like 99k more people than I expected four years ago when I started posting here xD

I’m organizing this challenge for all forms of visual art, because I think they all eventually intersect and have things in common. I’m excited to see what comes up! (except AI, afterall we are talking about ART, not ordering a piece like you order a pizza.)

Regarding the secret gift... Since I’m writing a mystery series, I decided to be mysterious about the prize.

Cleanup Frames!

Here are some cleanup frames for my next bellydance animation.

The cleanup stage is the one I consider to be the most meditative part of the animation process. “Meditative” is the euphemism artists use when they mean “boring af”. Having to redraw everything from scratch is a pain. Even so, of all the boring things in the world, this is one of my favorites.

Testing out this new caption feature with some of my favourite illustrations.

1.This one was inspired by a Portuguese painter called Paula Rego.

2. Safira is wasted, the others are drunk and Kiwi, the cat, is leading the way.

3. Same substance different effects.

4. The crew posing like if they are a band.

5. Safira and Gigante will always be fighting.
