We’re humbled to receive another Gear of the Year Award from @bikepackingcom this time for our PACT Ultra Lite Kit.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Bikepackers are understandably super selective about the gear that they carry. So, it makes it that much more meaningful to us that they consider our UL Kit a ‘must-have’ product.

If you haven’t checked out @bikepackingcom, you should. They have the most stunning visuals of any outdoor media. Anywhere. Not to mention the info they provide about routes, gear, how-to’s, etc is second to none.

Check out Bikepacking’s full 2025 Gear of the Year write-ups at the link in our bio. And thank you guys for the support. by @pactoutdoors

The PACT Lite backcountry poop kit uses fungi to breakdown waste faster while killing pathogens that can impact waterways, wildlife and public health. PACT Wipes are dehydrated and compressed and unfold into a thick towel with a squirt of water. Free of additives found in TP and conventional wipes they decompose faster and leave you feeling cleaner.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The PACT Lite is the lightest, most environmentally friendly way to bury your poop in the backcountry. It comes with everything you need, weighs 120 grams fully stocked, and is guaranteed for life.

PACT Kits reinvent the backcountry bathroom experience with a unique species of fungal mycelium that breaks down human waste faster while reducing harmful pathogens.

In our endless mission to provide deeply moving, educational content, we’d like to introduce the first installment of our Tiny Tutorials Series: How To Poop In The Woods.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Truth is, we’ve gotten really in to miniatures this year. To justify our obsession and call it “work” we decided to create this video using all the miniature sets that we’ve been playing (ahem) working with. Major props to the insanely talented @kimmyinman and @amy8cake. Give it a Like or a Comment. We’re fragile people.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
QUESTION! What other outdoor tutorials should we create using miniatures? If you’ve got an idea, there’s a solid chance we’ll bite.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You all rock. Happy Friday.

Training the folks in the green vests at @rei stores is one of the most important things we can do to ensure people are prepared when they head into the outdoors.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
REI Associates are so passionate about how the right gear helps to keep people safe and happy outside. We’ve done hundreds of store trainings at this point and never once have they not been worth the effort.

The outdoor industry is better because of the people that work here. It’s that simple. Thanks for having us Asheville! by @pactoutdoors

The folks at @meateater covered our pack out poop study with @pennstate’s School of Tourism Management. Here’s the gist of the study:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Almost no one arrives at a trailhead with pack out kits (aka wag bags).
- But, if you provide them at the trailhead, people will take them, use them and dispose of them responsibly.
- People will also tell you that using one was pretty okay, and they’re more likely to bring one in the future.
- They’ll also tell you that they’d be willing to pay ~$3 to have a pack out kit provided at the trailhead for convenience.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Why does this matter?
- More and more locations are going to recommend packing out waste due to increased number of visitors in concentrated areas.
- Budget and staffing cuts make building vault toilets prohibitive.
- In this study 70% of hikers that pooped, went beyond the reach of the trailhead facilities, so vaults don’t even necessarily serve the majority of users (in this particular context).
- Land managers use peer reviewed, academic research to drive decisions and policy. Crazy right?

When you support us, you’re not just supporting a company trying to make a quick buck on gear. You’re supporting a genuine effort to uncover new solutions for managing visitors on public lands. We appreciate you choosing us more than you’ll ever know. Have fun out there. by @pactoutdoors

PACT Pro Tip: Storing The UL Shovel
Biggest question we get is, how do I store the shovel blade on the body of the PACT UL Kit? Super easy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tight the cap on the end all the way down, so it aligns the two black dots. This squeezes the black pressure washer which provides friction to hold the blade in place.

Thanks and have fun out there. 🏃🏽‍♀️ 🚵🏾‍♂️ 🪂 by @pactoutdoors

For two years we’ve watched as elected officials ignored the wishes of the American people. They tried to sell off public lands. They did backroom deals to slash National Monuments. They gave handouts to billionaires and corporations. They tried to hand over sacred waters to foreign mining companies. We at PACT Outdoors have had enough.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This National Public Lands Day it’s time to remind our elected officials to keep their hands off our public lands. Become one in a million. Sign the petition. The link is in our bio.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This movement of hunters, climbers, skiers, hikers, park lovers, anglers and wildlife supporters will deliver it in person in DC and Statehouses this Public Lands Day. Spread the word. No Sell Offs. No Giveaways. No Backroom Deals. #savepubliclands #savepubliclandsday by @pactoutdoors

Like pioneers of the American West, we followed the old narrow gauge route of the 1880s through the upper reaches of the Black Canyon… I wonder if they packed canned margaritas too?
