A couple of photos from Rosieville production week in 2023. Top image with the incredible crew! It is such a joy to make art with a collective of wonderful people. Writing music is fun but to write it for a beautiful story, in collaboration with others... it's the best job in the world!

NEW ALBUM OUT TODAY!!!

Today I released Rosieville - the soundtrack I composed for the @canberrayouththeatre production of the play by @mary_rachel_brown

I loved working on this play, and I am so excited to finally release the music! Rosieville is such a beautiful and fun story and I think I wrote some beautiful and fun music to go along with it.

For the first time ever I am making VINYL - made to order. Copies are available at cost (meaning you just pay the production and shipping costs). A great memento of the 2023 production - and to listen to the album.

If you purchase the album on Bandcamp you get the full thing PLUS 5 bonus tracks, sheet music AND liner notes.

In just less than a week, my new album Rosieville will be out!

3 years ago, @canberratheatrecentre put on the world premiere of this wonderful play, and I was honoured to be the sound designer and composer.

I wrote a bunch of music for the play, and in the intervening years I've gradually chipped away at preparing album-ready mixes of all the songs. I've been recording guest artists to feature on a couple of tracks. Mixing the 4-speaker surround sound from the show down to stereo for the album. Turning the incredible artwork by @aislinnalis into designs for my first ever vinyl release. Filming and producing music videos. Making so much content.

God. Content. Every Instagram post, every video costs time. Time I would much rather spend with friends, making more music, actually relaxing and resting.

But I want people to hear this music. I want people to know about it. I want people to hear Glass Pianos and think 'so relaxing - I'm going to put that one my sleepy music playlist'. I want people to hear the Theme for Rosieville and think 'how youthful and fun - that's going on my whimsical playlist'.

So much of what I see on Instagram is 'make x posts a week', 'make carousels', 'use a hook in the first 2 seconds'. I see more insidious things like 'create 20 burner accounts and edit slop videos and cuts from movies with your music'. I see creative videos and posts, but almost all of them use some element of deceit to keep the user engaged.

I'm still working out how to balance that all. To balance making things I enjoy making, with what works for an audience. To balance posting to social media without being addicted to it. To balance working full time while trying to make as much music as possible.

I haven't released an album since June 2025 - and I have been feeling like a failure because of it. My icons release 1-3 albums a year. I want to do that! I have so many ideas! So much backlog! But they have time, money, resources and connections I don't have, so why do I feel like I'm not doing enough?

And in a week, it will be done - and I will move on to the next project. Although not really - because once it's out I'm going to keep telling you about it! by @paddy_ewi

Spotify fucking SUCKS 😤

My new song is only available on Spotify with a limited cut. My upcoming album is going to have a Spotify cut - more on that later!!

Spotify has had a weak sauce approach to AI music, they invest in AI military tech, and they only exist because they have a vice grip on the music marketplace, which they hold by exploiting the work of musicians that create the music that gives them any value to offer in the first place.

But - it's that same vice grip that makes it hard for artists to get off Spotify. That's where all the listeners are! How else do you reach them?

So, you CAN find my new song on Spotify - but you gotta hear my voice talking at you over the top of it 😉 Want to hear the track as intended? Move over to one of the other (slightly) better streaming services, and disrupt Spotify 's monopoly - or even better BUY the music on Bandcamp (and get BoMUs tWacKs) - or EVEN BETTER pick up the album on VINYL 😍😍😍
