Collective Memory w/ @piersharrison > link in bio 🌱

Piers Harrison approaches music like an anthropologist of the dancefloor, a collector of traces, gestures and fragments of human life. Through years of digging, archiving, writing and producing, he has built a universe where music becomes a way of observing us: our rituals, our desires, our eccentricities, our sense of humour, our darkness and, above all, our instinct to play.

His selections move through forgotten records, strange grooves and unexpected connections, revealing the many faces of human nature : the mysterious and the joyful, the sensual and the absurd, the beautiful and the beautifully weird.

Both as a selector and producer, you can feel a sense of discovery in his work, as if each record he digs or produces were an artefact recovered from some parallel civilisation and placed back into the hands of the present.

Perhaps it is this instinct for storytelling that makes his sets so distinctive. His ear as a DJ is inseparable from his eye as a writer: he builds narratives with the patience of a story being told, sometimes cosmic, sometimes mischievous, sometimes deep, always leaving space for the unexpected.

Through projects like Soft Rocks and Mysticisms, Piers has spent years connecting fragments of musical history into something alive. His work exists somewhere between archive and imagination, scholarship and play : a reminder that beneath all our different rituals, genres and identities, we are all still creatures drawn to rhythm, mystery and the strange pleasure of losing ourselves together.

I’ve been blessed to finally connect with Piers during the first edition of @eternalsunfestival (as I was a big admirer of his work which connects deeply with my sound and ethics) and I’m honored to have him for this month’s episode of Collective Memory.

Born in Tunisia and based in London, Nadia has quietly become one of the UK’s most cherished underground selectors.

Rooted in her Mediterranean and North African identity, her musical language has been shaped by decades spent navigating some of the UK’s most iconic dance floors, where digging, curiosity, and cultural exchange have defined her path.

A longtime co-host of Rhythm Connection on @nts_radio , Nadia has built a reputation for championing overlooked sounds and emerging voices. But above all, she is a storyteller. Her sets don’t simply move through genres, they unfold as narratives, weaving together memory, migration, rhythm, and place. Every transition becomes a thread connecting personal histories to collective ones.

It is this approach that makes her a natural guest for Collective Memory, a space where music becomes an archive of lived experience and where every selection carries the echoes of those who came before us.

For this mix, Nadia journeys through the roots of House Music, revisiting the records that transformed the dance floor into a space of resistance, liberation, and radical joy. Through a deeply narrative selection, she highlights the tracks that gave voice to the marginalized and reminds us that House has always been a language of resistance and freedom.. a journey where identity, memory, and storytelling converge, revealing the dance floor as both a sanctuary and a living archive.

Today at 4 p.m (C.E.T) on @radioalhara , I'm happy to welcome @moody.mehran , an Iranian-Dutch DJ, curator, and cultural figure whose work moves between sound, memory, and diaspora.

Born in Iran and based in the Netherlands, Moody Mehran (Mehran Palad) has built a practice shaped by in-between spaces: between geographies, identities, and musical worlds.

A respected presence within the Dutch dance music scene and beyond, he does not work within a single style or genre. Instead, he draws from across the electronic music spectrum, guided by a focus on finding and sharing timeless and meaningful records.

A former resident of Red Light Radio, as well as the co-founder of Diaspora Radio and Acid Hamam, , his work is rooted in building spaces of connection.

Through these projects, Moody has consistently used music not just as performance, but as a form of gathering, holding space for displaced stories, hybrid identities, and shared emotional memory.

Moving fluidly between genres, eras, and influences, his sets are shaped by an enduring curiosity and a genuine devotion to music.

For this occasion, he curated a summer mixtape that will likely stay with you throughout the season and beyond.

Résidente de Your Calling et membre active du collectif The Calling, Pag0ace est une artiste dont l'univers fait le pont entre architecture et musique. Formée académiquement pour façonner les espaces physiques, elle prolonge aujourd'hui cette sensibilité à la construction d'espaces émotionnels à travers ses sélections musicales. Son approche est réfléchie et intuitive, toujours à l'écoute de l'énergie qui l'entoure.

Moitié ukrainienne, moitié tunisienne, elle porte en elle deux paysages distincts, tous deux marqués par la résilience, la créativité et la profondeur. Ces racines guident son langage musical, où House, Disco et textures curieuses se mêlent en quelque chose de personnel et d'évolutif. Some names transcend club culture. They become symbols.. catalysts that alter the way we feel the world, inhabit our bodies, and move through life itself.

Born in Glasgow, a city of rain, steel and restless creativity, Optimo emerged from a place where sound has always been a form of survival and became something far larger than its geography.

For nearly three decades, they transformed the dancefloor into sacred territory: a space where joy, grief, ecstasy, fury and beauty could exist together without restraint.. raw, unfiltered and fully celebrated.

Their selections carried the mystique of forgotten tales and the shock of revelation, weaving together sounds that felt both ancient and futuristic, intimate and revolutionary.

Through their music and the way they shared it, Optimo expanded the very purpose of the dancefloor, opening it toward something deeper: an act of liberation, communion and resistance.

Beyond the club, their vision continued through Optimo Music, a label that became an extension of the same philosophy: fearless, borderless, deeply human.. a home for outsiders, sonic explorers and radical spirits, releasing music that refuses conformity and embraces the transformative power of sound in all its forms.

Following the passing of the beloved JD Twitch last year, a profound silence moved through underground culture. His spirit, generosity and radical vision left an immeasurable imprint on generations of dancers, artists and seekers across the world.

Yet even through loss, the flame never disappeared.

JG Wilkes continues to carry the message with honor, grace and integrity.. holding not only a friendship and a musical partnership, but an entire way of understanding what music can be: a refuge, a form of resistance, a collective memory constantly reborn through sound, space, and human connection.

I'm deeply grateful for this precious contribution and I invite you all to dive into today's journey with open hearts and curious ears..

This month, Collective Memory arrives in another form.

In the wake of my mother’s passing, and even in the weeks that seemed to foreshadow it, I found myself reaching toward something I couldn’t name. Not meaning, not escape, but a fragile thread to stay connected to feeling.

Only now do I realize that this search had already shaped the show itself. The curation slowed, drifting away from movement and toward stillness, toward something less immediate, yet more enduring.

It was within this space that I invited DJ Sundae (@idlepress ) one of the most quietly influential figures of the French underground to be my guest on this special show. A patient digger of worlds within worlds, his mixes unfold like half-remembered dreams, guided by deep listening and a trust in emotion rather than momentum.

From the cult Sky Girl compilation to No Weapon Is Absolute on NTS with @ilcosmovitelli , his work consistently opens space for the intimate and the overlooked. Beyond the booth, his path extends through collaborations with @thetrilogytapes and the founding of labels like Idle Press and Hollie Records, each one a vessel for liminal, rare and deeply human sounds.

His artistic orbit also reaches into projects with close collaborators like @ivan_smggh_jmm and Cross, where albums unfold with the same patience and textural depth, blurring the line between listening and remembering.

It feels, in a way, that this meeting was already written into the current I’ve been moving through. That this contribution arrived not by coincidence, but by a quiet alignment, one that offered, within its careful construction, a form of comfort I hadn’t known how to ask for.

Somewhere between the hiss of shortwave radio and the glow of a half-lit dancefloor, @tekaawitha moves less like a DJ and more like a cartographer of hidden worlds.

Emerging from the misted peripheries of Glasgow, he is not easily located within the fixed grid of electronic music. Instead, he drifts, through dub echoes, forgotten folk melodies, spectral jazz, and fragments of distant transmissions, assembling them into sequences that feel less played than summoned.

As a co-founder of @12th.isle , Clark operates within a broader constellation: a label, a radio signal, a gathering point for sounds that seem to arrive from elsewhere. With time, he created an imagined terrain populated by elusive artists, lost recordings, and future relics. Within it, time is porous. Geography dissolves. The familiar is rendered strange again.

His work resists the linear logic of the club.
Rhythms appear, then recede into vapor. Melodies surface like half-remembered dreams. There is a sense, always, that something ancient is being reactivated, not through nostalgia, but through careful alignment, a tuning of frequencies, a re-opening of channels..

On air, through platforms like @nts_radio , and in dimly lit rooms across Europe and beyond, Clark acts as both an archivist and medium. He does not simply select records. He reveals correspondence between them, tracing invisible threads across decades and continents. The result is a kind of listening that feels ritualistic, an invitation to step outside of time and into a parallel continuum of sound.

I first crossed paths with Fergus on the sacred dancefloor of @fortuna_riverside_bar , during the inaugural edition of @eternalsunfestival and it’s a true pleasure to welcome him to this show, a space where meaning is everything, and where his sound, rich with intention, depth, and hidden resonance, feels not only at home, but essential.
