I have so many holds on Libby that some of my cards won’t let me place any more 😭
I’m the kinda person that when I see a book I wanna read, I immediately place a hold on it…then all at once I get 4+ books ready to borrow and get overwhelmed and suspend them until I’m ready.
Some of these are on my fall tbr, others are just random books I was in the mood for but now I’m not (the woes of being a moody ass mood reader lol)

As some of you may know, I’m a huge horror fan; not just books, but also movies and TV shows.
I have been a horror lover since I was a toddler because I was like three or four when my brother showed me a bride of Chucky for the first time. Yes I know that that’s *way too young* for a rated R horror movie but it’s OK because I turned out fine LMAO.
This is a very small group of the movies I watched a lot or movies that made a big impression on me when I was in elementary school.
I’m pretty sure queen of the damned was the second or first vampire movie I ever saw and holds a very special place in my heart.

I actually very rarely rate books 5 stars so this is a combination of four and five star books!! I know a lot of people really hope for a certain number of five star reads each year, but I never really think about that, I just hope that I like the books I pick up.
That being said if Big Swiss isn’t amazing I’m going to sob. 😭 I have such high hopes for it. And only eight more weeks till I get to borrow it from Libby!!!!

I realized I didn’t do a reading wrap up for August, so here you go! This is what I read in August and September.
As you can see, I haven’t been reading much because I have been fighting tooth and nail to not fall into another reading slump. I have no idea what’s been going on with my brain, but it’s been so hard for me to stick with a book. I’m hoping October is better 😭
also, I only have like six more books until I hit my reading goal for the year! So I’m gonna try to hit that goal this month. Wish me luck!

Y’all it was honestly so hard picking 10 books I want to read before the end of the year 😭 my TBR literally has hundreds of books yet it was so difficult picking 10 that I really really wanna finish soon.
I was telling one of my bookish pals earlier, I’m literally FOAMING at the mouth with anticipation for “Big Swiss” and “A Good Person”!!! I have been wanting to read those books all year and I’ve been stuck waiting for my Libby holds to come through this whole time; but soon! I have eight weeks left before I get to read them!!!
I want to read the long walk because I saw the movie yesterday and loved it and similarly, I want to read whalefall because they’re making a movie and I fully intend on seeing it when it comes out.

Imma need everybody in this book to DIE

Cults are so evil and icky and manipulative and seeing that shit play out was DISTURBING. This is a good book but there was no point during my reading where I didn’t feel uncomfortable, disgusted or horrified.

Yet another banger from Sarah Gailey, who has quickly become a favorite of mine (this is the 3rd book of hers I have read)

I actually have so many thoughts about this book, but I’m trying to not have a caption that’s seven paragraphs long 😅
Considering I don’t know anyone who enjoyed this book, I was really perplexed by the very high ratings on Goodreads, but now that I’ve read it, I kinda understand! I don’t think it’s good enough to deserve four or five stars, but it’s definitely not a bad book in my opinion! If you have the tolerance to withstand an absolutely irredeemable and insufferable woman, I might suggest this to you.
Yeah, I read a book where the author obviously does not like the character? I feel like that’s what’s happening here. Natalie is a terrible person and she deserves everything that happens to her, but she’s not the only villain. There is no real consequences for Caleb or his father. No real consequences for the men at all, just Natalie and her poor poor children.
I’m sure most of you reading this either already read this, or never will so I don’t mind including some SPOILERS!!!

It is suggested that Natalie might be gay because when she confronts the woman her husband cheated on her with, the details make it seem a bit homoerotic. I don’t know if this is included because Natalie only wants to be a Good Christian Woman and being gay is generally considered the worst thing you could be as a Christian, or if we’re actually supposed to believe that this painfully straight woman is actually a repressed lesbian. I don’t care about her sexuality either way, but I wish that was included for a reason. Natalie does not explore her sexuality at all, and it never really gets addressed again.

I have a lot of other criticisms, but like I said, I’m trying not to make this caption too long lol

Here’s a look at all of the books I’m in the middle of right now!
When I was younger, I could easily read 2 to 4 books at a time and still finish them in only a few days. I am not like that anymore, but I still pick up multiple books at a time because I can’t help myself. 😅 if I see that a book I want is currently available, I’m borrowing it immediately even if I know I won’t get to it soon.

This is a mix of horror and romance and something else (i’m not quite sure what genre Bliss montage is) so be prepared for my reading wrap up at end of the month to be an eclectic mix of random books lol

Here’s my July reading wrap up!! I know we still have four days left of the month, but I have been in a book slump for the past two weeks so I know I’m not going to read anything else lol
This month was simultaneously great for reading, and awful. The first two weeks of the month I absolutely flew through my TBR and read everything I wanted to… which resulted in me not having anything else I wanted to read. Hence my two week long reading slump 😅

Delilah Dawson and Sara Van Os are definitely new favorites of mine, and I’m so excited to see what they continue to publish!
I loved every book I read this month, but Bloom and decomposition book definitely are my number ones.
