And this book is PACKED with interesting facts about Southern African plants, animals and insects, from the slimy and stinky to the downright strange! I also loved that it shares information about the people who discovered certain species and plants. There's so much more to nature than meets the eye, and this book makes learning about it entertaining and accessible. It's informative without feeling like you're sitting in a classroom, and the illustrations by Zinelda McDonald are a lovely addition. ๐ŸŒฑโœจ Five stars from me! โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ If you have little nature lovers in your life, or you're an adult who still gets ridiculously excited about learning weird animal facts (๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ guilty!), I highly recommend picking this one up. โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค Book Review ๐Ÿ–คโ„๏ธ ๐Ÿ“š Books Read This Year: 74 of 100 ๐Ÿ“– Snowflakes โœ’๏ธ Ruth Ware ๐Ÿ–ค Psychological Thriller | Mystery | Suspense ๐Ÿ“ฑ KU ๐Ÿ“š Series: Hush Amazon Original Short Stories โญ Rating: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโœจ /5 ๐Ÿ’ญ My Thoughts A quick little thriller to help me chip away at that 100-book reading goal! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ“š Snowflakes was... okay. It had an intriguing premise, with an isolated family, a remote island, a growing sense of paranoia and the question of whether the danger they've escaped has followed them after all. I did find the story a little confusing at first, though, and it took me a while to get my bearings and understand what was happening. The atmosphere was definitely there, but I never quite connected with the story as much as I wanted to. Since it's a short story, it's a quick read that you can easily squeeze in between longer books. And sometimes that's exactly what you need when you're trying to reach that reading goal! ๐Ÿ‘€ Overall, it was an okay read for me. Not a new favourite, but not every book can be a five-star experience, and that's perfectly fine. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ฌ QOTD: Are you a fan of short stories, or do you prefer a full-length thriller with plenty of time to build the suspense? โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ“– #Snowflakes #RuthWare #BookReview #PsychologicalThriller #BookstagramSA by @pages_of_micaela
๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ Book Review ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ๐ŸŽƒ ๐Ÿ“š Books Read This Year: 73 of 100 ๐Ÿ“– Samhain Eve Masquerade โœ’๏ธ Lorin Petrazilka ๐Ÿ–ค Cozy Spooky Romance | Witches | Mystery ๐Ÿ“ฑ Ebook โญ Rating: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ /5 ๐Ÿ’ญ My Thoughts A little witchy magic, a mysterious mansion, a masquerade and a charming warlock? Sign me up! ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ”ฎ Samhain Eve Masquerade was a nice, quick read for spooky season. It's the kind of book you can curl up with when you're in the mood for something festive, a little mysterious and sprinkled with romance. I enjoyed the Halloween atmosphere, the magical setting and the promise of secrets lurking behind the mansion's doors. Add a little chemistry between rival covens, and you've got a fun little seasonal read! ๐Ÿ–คโœจ At the same time, it's a short novelette, so don't go in expecting a super deep, elaborate story. For me, this was more of a quick spooky-season treat than a read that completely blew me away. ๐Ÿ’ฌ QOTD: What's your favourite kind of spooky-season read? Witches and magic, haunted houses, paranormal romance or a proper psychological thriller? ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ‘€ #SamhainEveMasquerade #LorinPetrazilka #BookReview #SpookySeasonReads #BookstagramSA by @pages_of_micaela
๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ”ช Book Review ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ”ช ๐Ÿ“š Books Read This Year: 61 of 100 ๐Ÿ“– You Deserve to Know ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ”ช โœ’๏ธ Aggie Blum Thompson ๐Ÿ–ค Psychological Suspense | Mystery | Domestic Thriller | Autofiction ๐Ÿ“ฑ Kindle โญ Rating: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโœจ /5 ๐Ÿ’ญ My Thoughts This book pulled me in from the beginning because of its autofiction format. It had such a unique feel to it and honestly read almost like I was watching a true crime documentary unfold! ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ“บ The twists and turns kept me guessing, and I really enjoyed slowly watching the seemingly perfect suburban friendships unravel as more secrets came to light. There is something about neighbourhood drama, hidden affairs and everyone having something to hide that I just can't resist in a thriller ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ”ช I did struggle a little towards the ending, though. There are SO many characters, secrets and hidden identities that I found myself having to keep track of who was who ๐Ÿ˜‚. By the final stretch, I felt a little overwhelmed trying to piece everything together. That being said, I still really enjoyed the overall story and the way it was presented. It definitely kept me invested enough to want to see how everything would come together. And now I'm even more curious to see how this translates to the screen because I will absolutely be watching the TV adaptation! ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ‘€ ๐Ÿ’ฌ QOTD: Do you prefer thrillers with lots of characters and secrets, or do you find yourself getting confused trying to keep track of everyone? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ”Ž #YouDeserveToKnow #AggieBlumThompson #BookReview #BookstagramSA #PsychologicalThriller ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ”ช by @pages_of_micaela
๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐Ÿ“šBook Review ๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐Ÿ“š ๐Ÿ“š Books Read This Year: 59 of 100 ๐Ÿ“– Beach Read ๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐Ÿ“š โœ’๏ธ Emily Henry ๐Ÿ’• Romance | Enemies to Lovers | Summer Romance ๐Ÿ“š Physical Copy โญ Rating: โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ /5 ๐Ÿ’ญ My Thoughts After all the thrillers I've been reading lately, I definitely needed a little romance break! ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ“š Beach Read was such a cute, easygoing romance and I really enjoyed the whole premise of two completely different writers challenging each other to step outside their comfort zones. I loved the contrast between January and Augustus, especially their different approaches to writing and life. The whole "we're definitely not going to fall in love" situation was also exactly the kind of setup I enjoy in a romance ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ˜‚. That being said, the story did feel a little slow for me in places. I think I'm discovering that after reading so many thrillers, my brain now expects constant twists and chaos! ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ”ช Still, this was a lovely change of pace and a nice reminder that sometimes you just need a cute romance, a beach setting and a little bit of chemistry. โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐Ÿ’• Not my favourite romance of the year, but definitely an enjoyable palate cleanser between my thrillers! ๐Ÿ’ฌ QOTD: What's your favourite Emily Henry book?
